2018 Spirit Award Winners:
- City Clerk’s Neighborhood Council Funding Working Group members: Brian Allen, Glenn Bailey, Tony Wilkinson, Cindy Hench, Danielle Sandoval, and Agnes Copeland
- Simone Best (West Hills) for her Citywide homelessness advocacy
- Leonard Shaffer (Tarzana) for co-founding the LA Neighborhood Council Alliance in 2005, and for founding the Neighborhood Council Preparedness Alliance
Controller Ron Galperin was on hand to present the Spirit Awards. As the first Neighborhood Council member to ever be elected to a Citywide office, the Controller, who once served on the Bel Air – Beverly Crest board, remains a well-respected leader within the Neighborhood Council community. Because of this, he was the perfect person to present the Spirit Awards, which honor individual Neighborhood Council members for achievements that benefit Neighborhood Councils Citywide.
