The President stood before Congress and the nation, declaring that the state of our union is strong. And while it is, we can and must make it stronger.

To start, we must support those families struggling because of the lack of jobs.

The new year began with the expiration of unemployment insurance for the long-term unemployed, to the detriment of our economy and millions of families. Congress has the power to change this. I recently called on them to take action and was joined by a dozen big city mayors who signed my letter.

Help us make an even louder call on Congress by adding your signature to our letter.

The mayors of cities such as Phoenix, Philadelphia, and St. Louis see what is at stake. The President and the Senate have stood up for those families who, through no fault of their own, are on the edge because unemployment benefits were cut off.

We need your signature to push Congress to take action. The state of the union is strongest when we stand up for those with the least.

Sign my letter to strengthen our families, our communities, and our country.

Thank you for all you do.

Eric Garcetti

P.S. Tell Congress that actions speak louder than words. Sign the letter.
