Stepping up to run as a candidate in any election takes commitment, passion, and belief in oneself. The opportunity now exists for ANY Angeleno who meets their Neighborhood Council’s candidate qualifications to run for a publicly elected board seat.
After months of development and testing, the City Clerk’s 2016 NC Election Candidate Filing Portal went live at 12:01AM on December 19th. Neighborhood Council stakeholders from San Pedro to Northridge and from Boyle Heights to Venice are able to apply online to become a candidate so as to serve their communities as a Neighborhood Council board member. Using this http://empowerla.org/nccr/ portal, candidates will be able to file their candidacy, upload photos and documentation, and make changes to their candidate photos and statements.
Step 1: Go to http://empowerla.org/nccr/ and watch the informative “What It Means To Be A Candidate” video (3:33 minutes).
Step 2: Click on the “Click Here to Continue Once Finished Watching The Video”.
Step 3: Click the Register button if you have not registered as a candidate.
Step 4: Fill in the information and click “SIGN UP”.
Step 5: Click on “Back to Login Page”
Step 6: Use the username and password that you chose and click on “Login”
Step 7: Once you have your login information done, go to the “CANDIDATE” tab to start your registration process.
Step 8: You’ll see the “MY CANDIDATES” page; please click on the blue “REGISTER” button.
Step 9: Begin your application filing process. Click Submit when you have finished the form.
Each candidate’s information will go directly into the Candidate Filing Database which will make it available for the City Clerk Neighborhood Council Elections 2016 staff to review as soon as the candidate clicks the “Submit” button on their smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. Similarly, candidates’ neighbors will be able to see candidate photos, statements and certification status on a real time basis. Last but not least, Neighborhood Council Election and Outreach Committees will have access to certified candidate contact information so they can invite candidates to candidate forums and community events.
