LOS ANGELES (July 17, 2014) — Every Saturday at 11 AM TreePeople hosts a Drought Solutions Tour and Native Plant Walk, which demonstrates how trees and water conservation techniques are an answer to overcoming the current short-term drought and long-term water crisis Los Angeles is facing.
This friendly, free hour-long guided tour inspires residents of greater Los Angeles to take personal responsibility to conserve water by adopting nature-based solutions. The Drought Solutions Tour and Native Plant Walk explores methods such as rainwater harvesting, native plant landscaping and the importance of trees for a healthy urban ecosystem. TreePeople Founder and President, Andy Lipkis, states, “My goal is to help us understand that a new, resilient, local water supply is not only possible—it’s now beginning to happen.” Participants will also learn the history of the organization and the array of programs available to get involved in improving the environment of LA, which includes information on workshops and volunteer opportunities.
Since the early 1970s TreePeople has been dedicated to working with Angelenos of all ages to create a greener Los Angeles to last for generations to come.
