When does candidate filing begin?

Candidate filing begins 75 days prior to your region’s Election Day. Please refer to your Election Region and timeline for specific filing dates.

Where can I get my candidate filing form?

The candidate filing form will be available online through the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment’s website at: EmpowerLA.org

Will I need to provide documentation to file for candidacy?

Yes, all candidates will have to provide documentation when filing. The documentation must establish their identity AND stakeholder status according to the position they are seeking.

Will I be able to file for candidacy online?

Yes, you will be able to file for candidacy by either filing online or in person at the Office of the City Clerk.

VOTING BY MAIL

When can I apply for a vote-by-mail ballot?

You can apply between 90 to eight days before your regions’ Election Day.

Will I need to provide documentation?

Voting by mail is available only for NCs who are self-affirmation and who have selected to provide this as an option for their elections. A list of these NCs will be available shortly or email Elections@EmpowerLA.org including the name(s) of the Neighborhood Council(s) you are interested in.

When will the vote-by-mail ballots be mailed out?

The ballots will be mailed out between 30 to eight days prior to each region’s Election Day. Please refer to your region’s election timeline for specific dates.

When is the last day to submit my vote-by-mail ballot?

The last day to return your vote-by-mail ballot is 5:00 p.m., the last business day prior to your region’s Election Day or at the polls on Election Day. Please refer to your region’s election timeline for specific dates.

Can I apply for a Vote-By-Mail ballot online?

For those NCs who are offering the Vote-By-Mail option, you will be able to apply for a Vote-By-
