NC Funding Hot Links

This past week, more than 200 Neighborhood Council Boardmembers participated in funding program workshops that introduce the impending changes in funding processes and requirements. There were workshops at City Hall, in the Valley, and in online Webinars.

The Neighborhood Council Budget Package is due on July 12th and includes:

All Board members voting on funding matters are required to take the first 20 minutes of the workshop regarding usage of public funds. Treasurers and second signatories must also take the second part of the workshop, which goes into more details about the necessary forms and monthly funding reconciliations. All Board members must also complete their two hour ethics training as well to participate in Neighborhood Council funding matters.

The Department will be tracking all Board members’ training requirements and posting them on the EmpowerLA website.  A completion form will be provided at the workshops so you will have an opportunity to provide your completion form to us either online or in person at the workshop.

Treasurers and second signatories will have until July 6, 2013 to complete their new Funding Program workshop in order to activate their Neighborhood Council checking accounts on July 8, 2013 and until September 1, 2013 to complete their ethics training to maintain an open account. All other Board members will have until September 1, 2013 to complete their new Funding Program workshop and the ethics training to continue voting on funding matters for their Neighborhood Councils.
