I hope our newsletter finds you well. The Neighborhood Council Budget Day is tomorrow! We’re moving up to City Council Chambers this year and will be joined by Controller Ron Galperin, who is a former Neighborhood Council Budget Advocate, City Council President Herb Wesson and City Council Budget & Finance Chair, Councilmember Paul Krekorian. They will be presenting on the City budget before the new Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates are selected. If you haven’t already registered, please click here. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

If your Neighborhood Council isn’t already working on a Clean Streets L.A. Challenge submission, this is a great opportunity to make a difference in the quality of life of your communities. Clean Streets L.A. Challenge is a partnership between L.A.’s Bureau of Sanitation and Neighborhood Councils to find innovative ways to help keep our streets clean. To participate, at least one representative from your Neighborhood Council must attend any one of the regional Clean Streets L.A. Challenge workshops in August. The workshops will detail the judging criteria and provide valuable clean-up strategies. Neighborhood Councils will have a great opportunity to partner with non-profits to apply for the challenge. If selected, you’ll be awarded a grant at the end of the year in City Hall!

Just a reminder that the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners meeting is cancelled next week. After Neighborhood Council Budget Day, head over to the famous annual Venice Neighborhood Council BBQ! If I don’t see you tomorrow, have a wonderful weekend!
