I hope our newsletter finds you well. I got to share some Neighborhood Council love on Monday with a delegation from Israel in the morning and then with policy students at a USC class that evening. It’s always a pleasure to present the wonderful work of the Neighborhood Council board members in their communities with folks both local and internationally so thank you for all the time and effort you put into your Neighborhood Council!  Here’s another great example with Bike Mar Vista, a committee of the Mar Vista Community Council.

City Clerk Holly Wolcott and I continued our regional alliance tour this week chatting about Neighborhood Council elections and funding with board members at the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils Wednesday morning and at the South Los Angeles Alliance of Neighborhood Councils last night. Our last stop will be at the east area Alliance of River Communities on Monday, 2/20, at 7 pm at the Glassell Park Community Center so come join us! If your Neighborhood Council hasn’t filed a Community Impact Statement for  Council File 15-1022-S2 on our EmpowerLA’s Neighborhood Council online voting report back, please do so as soon as possible to be a part of the conversation. We’ll also send out a separate survey to Neighborhood Councils regarding the realignment of Neighborhood Council elections for 2020 because the City Clerk will not be available to conduct the regularly scheduled Neighborhood Council elections.

The March 1st deadline for Neighborhood Council EmpowerLA Awards and the Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles Vanguard (NCCELAV) Award is coming up fast so please submit your nominations. Don’t forget to RSVP to the EmpowerLA Awards Dinner at City Hall on Thursday, March 30, 2017 where we can appreciate our Neighborhood Council board members for all the amazing work they do.

The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates are meeting tomorrow to get ready for their Regional Budget Day next Saturday, February 25th. A reminder that the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners meeting on Monday, 2/20, has been cancelled in observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday. They will hold a special meeting in North Valley City Hall on Wednesday, February 22nd, instead.

Enjoy the rain and stay safe this weekend!
