I hope our newsletter finds you well.  Happy Open Data Day!  I was happy to celebrate with Controller Ron Galperin, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, ITA General Manager Ted Ross and Innovation and Performance Commissioner Catherine Geanuracos in City Council chambers today as they presented on Open Data Day and the amazing efforts the City of Los Angeles has made to provide meaningful open data to Angelenos.  It was great to learn that Government Technology named Los Angeles the #1 digital city in the country in 2016, and  Controller Galperin’s fantastic ControlPanel has received 7 million views since its launch.  Councilmember Blumenfield also recognized the wonderful work of Hack for LA, who meet every Tuesday night to use data in innovative ways for civic issues in Los Angeles. Folks will be celebrating Open Data Day around the world tomorrow so check it out!

We’ve now submitted both of our election report backs to City Council for Council File 15-1022-S2 regarding online voting and Council File 04-1935-S1 regarding election voting experience improvements. Please make sure that your Neighborhood Councils weigh in on this Council Files with a Community Impact Statement.  Also, we sent out a board resolution (word doc and PDF) in March’s Monthly Profile regarding the timing reset of the Neighborhood Council elections in 2020 so please make sure you agendize and take action in your March and April meetings.  Thank you!

Don’t forget that the LANCC is meeting tomorrow.  The Congress of Neighborhoods Planning Committee will also start meeting again this Sunday.  Next week, the Board of Neighborhood Commissioner’s March 7th meeting has been cancelled, and the VANC will be holding their annual mixer on Thursday night.
Have a great weekend!
