I hope our newsletter finds you well. City Council has continued the Health, Education and Neighborhood Councils Committee recommendations on Council File 15-1022-S2 to Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Don’t forget that our Assistant Director of Policy and Government Relations, Lorenzo Briceno, puts out a great Legislative Report below that provides a summary of the new Council Files introduced each week by City Council. The best way to ensure your Neighborhood Council has the time to review and weigh in on City Council actions is to start tracking these Council Files the week they are introduced. Thanks to all of our Neighborhood Councils who are taking the time to review the Council Files and to submit Community Impact Statements!

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Neighborhood Council Bridge Display at City Hall this month, you will still have until Tuesday next week to see it. It’s pretty neat and shows the impact of Neighborhood Councils on issues citywide. Speaking of neat, I haven’t had a chance to mention the cool EmpowerLA pins we are releasing this year. Instead of only one pin, we will have a series of pins. The first pin was released at the Congress of Neighborhoods and features the diversity of our system. The second pin will focus on leadership and will be available at our EmpowerLA Awards event next March. We’ll have a few more surprise pins released so make sure you collect them all.
The Board of Neighborhood Commissioners will be meeting in the Valley next Tuesday night. They will be discussing their proposed amendments to the Neighborhood Council subdivision ordinance. We will also be celebrating more 15 year anniversaries for Valley Neighborhood Councils: Greater Valley Glen Neighborhood Council, Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council, Valley Village Neighborhood Council, North Hollywood Northeast Neighborhood Council, Encino Neighborhood Council, Reseda Neighborhood Council, Studio City Neighborhood Council and Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council. We hope to see you there!

Have a wonderful weekend!
