Do you live, work, or play in the Leimert Park area? Are you interested in the future of this vibrant community?

To contribute to the decision-making process as this historic neighborhood develops, please take the 2nd Annual Leimert Park Village 20|20 Vision Initiative Survey and attend the Charrette this Saturday, June 27.

The last day to complete the survey is Wednesday, July 8th.

The 20|20 Vision Initiative Charrette is presented by the Greater Leimert Park Village Crenshaw Corridor Business Improvement District (GLPVCCBID) and the Empowerment Congress West Area Neighborhood Development Council (ECWA). The Charrette is facilitated by the Leimert Park Village Stakeholders Committee and Urban Design Center.

This year, the Charrette will be a planning prelude to the August 6th-8th Urban Land Institute Technical Advisory Panel (ULI TAP) sponsored by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas. The ULI TAP will assess the highest and best use of potential development on the two public parking lots and adaptive reuse opportunities for the existing 1930’s era Art Deco designed buildings. The City of Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is preparing a market study for the 2 public lots, the Vision Theatre and Leimert Park Plaza.  Invitations to ULI TAP’s presentation of their findings will be sent on July 13th.

The Charrette Agenda on June 27th will drive the conversation and focus on ideas and actions that can harness the community’s cultural economy and foster economic development. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Creative Adaptive Reuse of Vacant and Underutilized Properties
  • Applying lessons from Downtown Culver City, Santa Monica Promenade and Downtown South Park
  • Two Public Lots, A Subway, Culture and Tourism Mix It Up to Design Great Place-Based Economic Development Projects in Leimert Park Village
  • Cultural Sustainability through an Adaptive Eco-District
  • How Do We Make It Happen in Leimert Park Village and on the Crenshaw Corridor?
  • Own the Media!  We’ve Got Wi-Fi, Radio and Internet Cable.  So, What’s the Name of Your Show?
  • What Kind of Content Can the “Leimert Park Village Studios” Produce?
  • Be an Audience Panelist for the Leimert Park Village Fourth Sector Economy “Shark Tank”
