Delores Allmond R12_HGNNCDelores Allmond – My residency in District Four goes back to 1986. When the Los Angeles City Charter was changed to include newly formed Neighborhood Councils, I was elected the first Recording Secretary in 2001. I came back on the Board as Vice Chair and then in 2012 I was elected to be the Chair. I have many years of leadership experience in various organizations, including the 135th Street Neighborhood Watch, and have worked successfully on the NC’s many community projects, including the clean up days and the Figueroa Corridor Business Breakfast I believe my various volunteer, managerial skills and experience will enable me to continue to meet the challenges as Chairperson of the Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council.

Pamela_Thornton_Reg12_HGNNC_2014Pamela M. Thornton – It has been an honor to to serve as Vice-Chair of the Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council since 2012. I am a 14 year resident of the Athens on the Hill community. I have over 15 years of experience guiding land use planning, entitlement, and zoning operations, utilizing economic and community development concepts. Throughout my career, I have led projects as a creative change agent for others. It has been a refreshing experience to advocate for my own community. I would like to continue to utilize my time, skills and knowledge to focus on land use and zoning issues that are negatively impacting the future of the residents and stakeholders of the Harbor Gateway North community. I seek re-election to continue to positively impact the future imprint of our community.

Rosalie_Preston_Reg12_HGNNC_2014Rosalie Preston – I have served as the Recording Secretary for the past year and a half, was previously the Chairperson for two and a half years, and before that the Recording Secretary for three years. In both positions, I have helped raise awareness of our Council by coordinating e-mails, flyer delivery, calls to stakeholders, and other outreach methods. I have been a key organizer of our 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2013 Health Fairs. I have also been a member of our Planning and Land Use Committee and have helped coordinate our response to key planning and land use issues, including the South L.A. and Southeast Community Plan updates. I look forward to helping to implement the Cityâ??s new design standards, beautification projects, and small parks, and also developing new initiatives, such as a coordinated Emergency Preparedness response throughout our Neighborhood Council.

Neondros Bridgeforth R12_HGNNCNeondros Bridgeforth – I have served as our Corresponding Secretary for the past four years. I have lived in the neighborhood for 46 years. I retired as a pharmacist after working for nearly 47 years in that field. I have been a member of the Bel-Vue Community Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, serving as an Elder and now a Deacon. It is my wish to continue serving the community as a Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council Board member.

Joan Jacobs – I have lived in the Harbor Gateway North area since 1979. While working for a non-profit, I was responsible for the budget and financial reports of a major department for fifteen years. I have served on the Neighborhood Council Board since its inception in 2002, initially as Corresponding Secretary and since 2010 as the Treasurer. As Treasurer, I have ensured that our quarterly and now monthly financial reports have been accurate and filed in a timely manner. I have also represented our Council as a Budget Representative and the Harbor Area as a member of the Neighborhood Councilsâ?? Budget Advocates Committee. I have always been involved in community service and as part of this service I am seeking re-election as Treasurer.

Deborah Lee R12_HGNNCDeborah Lee – My vision is to lead residents to a greater awareness of city government issues. I am president of L.A.P.D. Southeast Volunteers, a member of the Southeast Community Police Advisory Board, and treasurer of the L.A.P.D Southeast Seniors Club. In addition, as a neighborhood watch captain, I coordinate quarterly neighborhood watch meetings. Throughout the community, I co-chair events such as L.A.P.D. Natl. Night Out, Community Pancake Breakfast, and Officer Appreciation Day.

12- Harbor Gateway North- Richard-LeeRichard E. Lee – Often we hear the statement, “the youth are our future.” I contend that they are key to our present achievements. If re-elected to the position o f Youth Representative on the Harbor Gateway Neighborhood Council, I will continue to build partnerships and coalitions designed to develop and encourage youth participation in the Council and prepare them to assume leadership roles in our neighborhoods. To do this, I will work with families, schools, youth and community groups, faith-based organizations, law enforcement agencies and other groups. Ultimately, I believe that by working cooperatively, together, we will improve our neighborhoods and the quality of life in our communities.

Ramon Montoya R12_HGNNCRamon Montoya – I have served as the District 1 Representative for the past three years and a half. I helped organize the opposition to the zone change proposal in the Merit Tract area, which the Planning Commission upheld. For my next term I plan to focus on Gardena Blvd. improvements, a traffic signal at the intersection of Figueroa and 168th Street, and no 18-wheeler parking along the west side of Figueroa Street.

I have been trying to improve our neighborhood by surveying the area and talking to the residents about their issues. I attend our Redondo Alondra Neighborhood meetings and also have attended the meetings about development issues within District 2.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAReynaldo “Rey” Paduani – I have been the District 3 Representative since our Neighborhood Council was certified. I am bi-lingual (English and Spanish) and plan to continue to support the needs of the Rosecrans Park area (District 3) for the next two years. I am also a member of the Southeast Division Community Police Advisory Board, a Southeast Division volunteer, and past Commander of my American Legion Post. Over the next two years I will work to make sure that all stakeholders are prepared and organized for any type of emergency.

BettyHawkins_HarborGatewayNorth.REg12Betty Hawkins – I have lived in the community for forty three (43) years. I first got involved with my neighborhood when I joined the 135th Street Neighborhood Watch not long after I moved there. This was long before the Neighborhood Council started up. I am still very active in the Watch. When the Neighborhood Council began I was one of the first to be there in the beginning to help it start up in the community. I started out as Treasurer for several years and I am now District 4 Representative. I have had many hours of training on different items and feel I qualify to continue in this position. Over the last several years I have coordinated the annual clean up days for District 4 and helped to institute the new valet parking for parents at the 135th Street School.

12 Harbor Gateway North - Llewyn-FowlkesLlewyn Fowlkes – I have been a resident of the Athens on the Hill (District 5) community for over thirty-three years. I have served as a Block Captain for three years and as the President of the Athens on the Hill Community Association for two years. I have now served on the Board of the Harbor Gateway North Neighborhood Council since 2007 as the District 5 Representative. I would like to continue to represent District 5 as we work to bring about positive changes to our neighborhood.

Marvin Bell R12_HGNNCMarvin Bell – My desire to help people in the community led me to have interest in becoming a member of Harbor Gateway Neighborhood Council District 6 Representative, which I have been since 2010. This is my way of giving back to the community. I enjoy both the challenges and the joys of working with this Council and stakeholders. I am hoping to continue to make positive changes in the community.

Roasario_Rico_Reg12_HGNNC_2014Rosario Rico – I have been part of the HGNNC since the fall of 2012. I’ve lived in this community my entire life and am very passionate about giving back to my community. I am a 9 year veteran of the United States Army and served one year in Iraq as a convoy/transportation Sergeant in 2007. I received a bachelor’s in Community Psychology from California State University of Los Angeles in 2009 and received my Master’s in Public Health from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in 2013. I see myself as an agent of change when it comes to health disparities and community engagement. Most of my experience has been in the public health field and adolescent health. I look forward to your support in this election and hope that you will allow me to serve another term to address some of these issues we have in our community.
