CANDIDATES FILED:
Jim Van Dusen – I moved to Beachwood Canyon in 1970. I love the uniqueness of the area and have been involved in protecting and enhancing the safety and quality of life in the canyon by serving on the HUNC board as the Beachwood Canyon representative, co-chair of the HUNC Planning and Land Use Management Committee and member of the board directors of the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association. I also serve on a working committee with the Councilmember’s office to address and solve the issues of increased traffic and visitors. I have participated in efforts to put in place proper management of the development in Hollywood to encourage rational development while placing protections in place for the residents in the surrounding areas. This tension between those two missions is substantial and I would appreciate the privilege of continuing my activities on behalf of all Beachwood Canyon residents by being elected to the HUNC board.

My goal is to continue improving the community by uniting common economic interests across Hollywood. I currently serve as co-chair of the Hollywood United Business Committee representing the area between Franklin and Hollywood east of the 101. For the past several years I have been uniting businesses across neighborhoods and currently serve on the Los Feliz Neighborhood’s PLUM committee, East Hollywoods Business Committee, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, in the next year we plan to initiate a business improvement district unifying the great areas of Hollywood. Scott Larson – As your current Homeowner Representative, we have accomplished much: more affordable housing, trees along Franklin, promoting responsible growth (and keeping out irresponsible growth), working to protect the historic character of our neighborhoods with the creation of Hollywood Grove Historic District (HPOZ), and the establishment of Crimewatch – a mechanism to alert the neighborhood of recent criminal activity.I live on Canyon Drive in a 1914 home. I feel lucky. It is a wonderful neighborhood. This is why I moved to Hollywood 20 years ago. This is why I chose to buy a home here. I also work in Hollywood at Children’s Hospital.Hollywood is entering a renaissance. Growth, like taxes, is inevitable. But we must protect our neighborhoods and grow in ways that enhance a vibrant pedestrian street scene. We will continue to do so but I need your vote to continue the job! Thanks for your help!

I am properly equipped with my degrees in Bachelor of Science in Commerce majored in Business Management and Bachelor of Laws.
Greg Horos R5_HUNCGreg Horos As an entrepreneur, rooted in this community for nearly a decade, I am all too aware of the struggles facing small business owners. Far too often the smaller retail sector faces adversity in securing the simplest of relief when seeking to start, grow or improve their respective offering to their consumer base. Many are operating without a support system and not even aware that existing entities are in place to assist their endeavors. Preferred SBA loans, tax incentives, empowerment zones and energy efficiency rebates are not merely reserved for big businesses looking to increase their profit margin. Small businesses account for nearly 98% of registered companies here in Los Angeles County. We create jobs. We employee local hires. We are the engine that drives economic recovery…and it is about time that our voices are heard. A vote for me is a vote for advocacy.
