I’m running for Neighborhood Council because I know firsthand how difficult it can be to succeed, but also how people can change their lives for the better if given the opportunity. I first was elected to the Neighborhood Council when I was 16 years old and since then I have had the privilege of working with Elected Officials, Community Leaders and Organizations to improve the lives of our Communities.

During my work in Barrio Action, I was able to engage day-today with many youth who need help staying in school and having somewhere safe to be Afterschool. I appreciate the opportunity I’ve been given to have previously served in the Council and I am excited about running again. There is so much more I want to achieve to help working families, improve education and ensure that our community is well cared for and safe. I look forward to working with you in the months ahead.

I am running for neighborhood council because I have a vested interest to make El Sereno a safer and better place to live. My goal is to achieve a better “quality of life” for my children and to support the local economy by assisting and supporting the local small business community. I am a stakeholder in the El Sereno Community as a resident, property owner, and business owner.

For the past 16 years, I’ve been working for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Before that I was the Deputy Political Director of the California Democratic Party. I’ve lived in Los Angeles since 1976, with stints in Sacramento and Washington, DC. I love this neighborhood and would like to serve on the NC.

Tammy Membreno

Tina Pellegrino

I have been employed by American Apparel since1994 and currently serve as Chief of Staff. I’ve been working closely with Aztec Rising for years, and have been responsible for hiring several ex gang members, who are now learning legitimate trades and are experiencing a second chance to be proud of the way they support their families and contribute to society.

Since moving to El Sereno it has been my pleasure to give back to the community, which I now call home. Shortly after purchasing my home I formed a Neighborhood Watch group that has been active in trash and graffiti removal, and in reducing the number of gang members on the streets. Now I’d like to do even more by applying my skill and dedication to the City of El Sereno. I love this city and would be honored to serve on the Neighborhood Council.
