Leadership Academy takes Time Banking to Watts

Autumn Rooney of the Arroyo S.E.C.O.(Sustainable Economies Community Organization) Time Bank joined EmpowerLA in Watts and spoke of the magic that happens when people begin to share their skills, their knowledge, and their time, creating a community that connects unmet needs with untapped resources.

Time Banking is an economic equalizer that allows people to contribute their skills to those in need, banking their hours and then withdrawing them by using the services of those with something to offer.

West Adams is the latest community to organize a Community Time Bank and members can participate as individuals plus participate in social events and “Barn Raisings” where the entire network turns out to focus on one person, one home, or one project.
