Victor Azanedo My name Victor Azanedo, and I have been a resident of Lincoln Heights for fourteen years now and have seen my neighborhood change over the years. Whether that change is considered good or bad, we can all agree, that it can and should improve. My goal is to run a transparent Neighborhood Council on all matters that are presented, and outreach to the community, addressing the concerns of the majority and minority population. I promise to commit my attention to those concerns and use the proper channels to resolve them in a feasible manner. “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. Nanci Rosas I am interested in running for president of Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council, because I was born and raised in the communite of Lincoln Heights. I still live in Lincoln Heights. I have been involved, first as a volunteer in all the communite events sponsored by the Neighborhood Council for 4 years. I was then elected as CBO for the last 2 years. I am a single parent and I am very interested in all events, programs and projects going on in my communite. I believe running for president will be a great help and asset to our communite.

David Lopez I have grown up in Lincoln heights all my life. I’ve seen the good and bad of Lincoln Heights also I have been a part of many activities such as the Christmas parade and JROTC at Lincoln High School. Also well playing a part of my community I have worked at Café In The Heights for 2 years and with that I have got to meet many interesting people who have helped me realize that I want to be more involved in my neighborhood which is why I would like to be a part of the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council.

Richard Silvera My name is Richard Silvera and I am current board member for the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council, Sub Area 1 Representative, Resident Seat. Sub Area 1 is located between Broadway, the 5 freeway, the Pasadena freeway and Heritage Square. I am serving on the LHNC Planning and Land Use Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Bi-Laws Committee. As a retired engineer, I have the time and experience to be an asset to the board and the community. I also serve as president of the Puerta del Sol Home Owners Association Board. I think I can do more for my district and I would like the opportunity to serve again as your candidate for Sub Area 1 Resident Seat. I believe that Lincoln Heights must become more pedestrian and bike friendly. I am working to improve all of Lincoln Heights including the area around the Lincoln Heights Gold Line Station. This important transportation hub should be more integrated with downtown Lincoln Heights. This is a vibrant community, but we can make it better.

Justin Ruedaflores Hello, my name is Justin Ruedaflores and I’m running for President of the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council. I chose to run for this position because as a resident of this community I would like to see certain improvements made. For instance, I would like to see better funding in neighborhood schools, gang prevention, and neighborhood clean up. Having attended Cathedral High School, USC, and Loyola Law School, I have seen first hand that education is the key to success. With strong community leadership, we can build a stronger community by allocating funds that support education and overall community improvement. However, I need your support! So please vote for Justin Ruedaflores as President of the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council.

Lisa Joffrey I would be honored to represent the residents of Lincoln Heights on the Neighborhood Council for Sub Area 7. As a daughter-caregiver to my elderly mother, aunt to my infant niece, both residents of the neighborhood, my goal is simple. To listen to and protect the interest of the residents of Lincoln Heights. I will accomplish this by walking the district to talk with you and listen to your concerns. I will provide you with ways to directly contact me. Next, I will keep you informed of the Arroyo Seco Revitalization Plans as they progress. We need safer sidewalks and crosswalks for the children going to school, the seniors walking their dogs or folks on their way to church. We must maintain affordable rents, and create local jobs, not just gentrification. I promise to do my best for the people of Lincoln Heights. Please vote Lisa Joffrey. Thank You.

Philip Horvath After moving my business to Lincoln Heights six years ago, I have been continuously falling in love with this fascinating neighborhood. Steeped in the early history of LA, it is also beginning to have a 21st century revival through new young and creative residents. At the same time there is a strong existing community that requires respect and support. We will be able to learn from each other. There are many opportunities in this community to introduce projects such as community gardens, DIY manufacturing, community education, new technologies such as mobile phones and the Internet to enable people to provide for themselves in new ways in a quickly evolving economy which will leave many locals without work. I am passionate about bringing these ideas to the community and making Lincoln Heights an example of 21st century urban living that shines beyond the boundaries of LA.

Richard Friedberg STREET IN THE HTS, I BELIVE I AM THE BEST CANDIDATE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY. I WOULD ESPECIALLY LIKE TO SEE MORE DONE TO KEEP THE AREA CLEAN. THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE OLD PHONE COMPANY OFFICE ON DALY STREET IS A PRIME EXAMPLE. IT IS A COMPLETE MESS. I ESPECIALLY WISH TO THANK MR. STEVE KASTEN FOR ALL THE WORK HE HAS DONE OVER THE YEARS. HE HAS BEEN GOD-SENT.

Karla Mejia Hello my name is Karla Mejia and I want to represent Lincoln Heights as the Community Based Organization Representative. I want to lift up the already existing work of local community organizations along with helping create more community inter-generational community spaces. I would like to serve our neighborhood by helping to ensure our residents safety, provide more community activities, building bridges within our diverse neighborhood, and build neighborhood pride. With over 15 years in community organizing experience with youth, animals welfare, media skills,and anti-violence work I feel my experience will give me a good foundation to work with others to keep lifting Lincoln Heights.

Selena Ortega Hello all, my name is Selena Ortega, I was born and raised in vibrant Lincoln Heights. I am a Abraham Lincoln High School alumni and currently a senior at California State University, Los Angeles majoring in Sociology and Chicano Studies. I am a loyal and dedicated citizen of Lincoln Heights, who emphasizes the significance of social awareness, mental and physical health and community unity.
