Reseda Boulevard between Plummer Street and Parthenia Avenue will be one of the first 15 streets to participate in the City’s Great Streets Initiative, as announced by Mayor Garcetti on Tuesday June 3. Councilmember and Public Safety Committee Chair Mitchell Englander joined the mayor in congratulating the Northridge community on its completion of the Northridge Vision Report, a community-driven survey that envisions the community in 5, 10, 15, and 20 years. According to Councilmember Englander, the document is “a vision that we could hand to developers to tell them, this is the look we want for our community.”
With its proximity to a major university, the Valley Performing Arts Center, the Devonshire PALS Center, the Northridge Library and various community amenities, Reseda Boulevard is a prime participant for the Great Streets program.

What makes a Great Street? It’s more than just the physical infrastructure, street, bike lanes and tree lined sidewalks. A strong and vibrant community cannot be accomplished without its people. The Great Streets program focuses on certain streets for specific improvements and calls for improved coordination between city departments to get projects done faster and more efficiently. “A great neighborhood needs a great street as its backbone,” said Mayor Garcetti. “As city leaders, we need the backbone to make the bold changes necessary to build great streets.”
