After successfully opening a certified farmers market and acquiring donations from MINC and other businesses in 2010 to do so, I would like to use that experience to encourage additional business development in our area. To be one of the voices but more importantly to be part of a positive driving force on the MINC board of directors as a merchant/business representative.

I have lived in the area for 24years.  I am now wanting to get involved in the decision making process.  In addition, I want to ensure the community in which I live and work receives the best of me and all that I can bring.  I believe people working together can do and accomplish great feats.  I need to give back, so the younger ones (and older ones) will be inspired to do the same and want to protect our precious community. I want to make a difference….

Shai Levy

The power of the community is the power to make a change.

As individuals we are pretty powerless except our power to inspire and empower our community. I believe that being a board member I get to make a change.

Lorraine Genovese

I am running for re-election for the Mid-City Neighborhood Council’s (MINC) “At-Large Representative” seat. I want to remain a part of the MINC board so I can have the opportunity to continue to improve our community. I have lived here since 1999 and have seen many positive changes.

I am the chairperson for the Design Advisory Committee, which has repainted the facades of a few businesses in our area. All done with volunteer help. The paint and supplies were paid for by the proprietors. Some past projects I lead had MINC partner with the CENSUS bureau. We were at our local farmer’s market encouraging residents to send in their CENSUS forms. The last project I headed was the creation of our MINC logo and getting it trademarked.

I’ve been a part of the Washington Economic Development Committee and the PLUM Committee.

Please support me for another term.

I am running for neighborhood council because I want to make a difference in my community. I was part of the committee that helped approve the construction of the Nate Holden Theater. I am interested in bringing more viable commerce to our area. I believe that crime prevention and adequate city planning are equally important as new residents continue to move into our thriving neighboohood. I have been a homeowner in the area for nearly 15 years and now want to have a voice in regard to where I live.
