Terry Gomes and Jon Liberman of the South Robertson Neighborhood Council were honored in City Council along with Trilogy Financial Service’s President, Jeff Motske, and Exec V.P. Kevin MacIntosh for putting together a program called Back to Opportunity that provided job skill training for people recently released early from prison through the realignment under AB 109.
Back to Opportunity works with the LAUSD We Build LA program and was conducted at the Manual Arts Training Center on Washington Boulevard in Council District Ten. The program was designed to create opportunities for individuals to get a job and to reenter their neighborhoods as productive members of the community with the job skills they need for employment in the construction field and as plumbers and electricians.
So far thirteen members have graduated and ten of them are working in our communities.
The program costs, including boots and gear, was paid for by Trilogy Financial Services and Terry Gomes.
City Council President Herb Wesson brought Terry, Jon, Jeff, and Kevin to City Council to thank them for their leadership and for their example of community based problem solving.
