Greetings! We hope our weekly newsletter finds you well.

Bylaws….
The Bylaw Adjustment Application deadline May 1, 2015 has come and gone. Thank you to those NCs who submitted a bylaw adjustment application. We received a high number of bylaws adjustment applications with Board Structure changes. As you know, the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners reviews and approves all board structure changes, accordingly, we will be presenting these to the Commission at their upcoming meeting on 5/18/15 at City Hall. Thank you for your diligence in getting these important documents over to us for processing. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the bylaws submission, please contact your Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate (NEAs) directly.

Stipulation Sheets
Also, please be reminded that the deadline for all stipulation sheets is coming up June 1, 2015. It is critical that your board agendize for discussion and vote the Procedures Stipulation Worksheet; this document was sent to each individual NC from NCSupport some time ago. If you require your respective stipulation worksheet to be sent to you again, please contact your respective Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate and let them know you need it; if you’d like assistance or guidance through the worksheet, please also let us know as the NEAs will be happy to assist you with this very important document.

Training….
Please note that field staff have been conducting training for specific boards on request. Your NEAs can work with you to develop a work plan and ensure that the board is meeting any challenge head on. We can address any issues dealing with operations, meetings, board dynamics and leadership development through a board retreat. Please let us know if you’d like our assistance.

Work Plan
I’d like to share with you that the next couple of months (May through July) your Field Division, will be highly focused on turning around bylaws changes and incorporating the information from your Stipulation Worksheets accordingly. We ask for your understanding and flexibility as we will not prioritize meeting attendance in order to ensure that we meet the administrative timelines and ensure that all information required for elections is in place.

Agendas & CIS
Thank you for sending your agendas to NCSupport@lacity.org We apologize if you have experienced any delays in the posting of your agendas. Please note that our servers have been down and this has impacted our process to upload to the Early Notification System. We hope to correct this issue soon. As of the beginning of the fiscal year, July 2014 to present, we have received 3033 agendas which have been posted to the Early Notification System (ENS). Please continue to send them in and don’t forget that we need them in pdf format. You will be surprised as to the amount of extra time required from staff when agendas come in in a format that is not pdf. Please help us be more efficient by sending your agendas in pdf format. With regards to Community Impact Statements (CIS) since start of the fiscal year, we are up again at 194! Kudos to those NCs making use of this great and unique tool! Congratulations on your CIS participation, we see it increasing every week and are thrilled that you are being proactive about weighing in on issues concerning your community.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach us at NCSupport@lacity.org or by calling the Department’s Help Line at (213) 978-1551.
