Resident Homeowner Representatives
Term: 4 years
1 Elected Stakeholders who own and occupy a residential property within the PUNC boundaries and who are 18 or older. There shall be no more than two from any one of the three geographical districts. Stakeholders who live, work, own property or those who declare a stake within the PUNC boundaries as a community interest stakeholder and who are 16 or older.
CANDIDATES FILED:
vctVivian Candy Tanamachi – I have lived in the Pico Union area since 1971. I have consistently seen the local government allow a systematic elimination of residential areas effectively eliminating the sense of community. I would like to participate on the Pico Union NC to aid in developing a communication network to not only inform the stakeholders, but to provide a viable platform where their needs, concerns and solution can be voiced and supported, and where businesses work jointly with the community to develop a community where all stakeholders are proud to call their own.

Peter Joseph Sean – I have served Pico Union Neighborhood Council as a board member for the past Seven years. I would like to continue serve the community as an active board member and proceed to make a difference in this community.
Ivonne ZaldivarIvonne Zaldivar – I am a business owner in the Pico Union NC. I have lived in the neighborhood since I came from El Salvador in 1981, and have owned a business in the neighborhood since 1990. My main goal is to serve the community, and improve the livelihood of the community of Pico Union. I graduated from Woodbury University with a B.S. Marketing. I also hold a Masters Degree in Public Health from Walden University, and I am a candidate for a PhD also in Public Health from Walden University. I am committed to investing in my community and being elected to this council will give me the opportunity to serve the people that I work so hard for.
Nikke_JoleeNikki Jolee – As president of World Harvest Foodbank in the Pico-Union district for the past few years, I have helped improve the well being of the community and wish to continue offering solutions as an active Board Member. With a corporate background in the investment industry since the age of 18, I have the knowledge and drive to aid in developing new avenues that will be supported.

KennethM.Wyrick_PicoUnion.REg6Kenneth M Wyrick – I want to establish a Pico Union NC Early Notification System for the Pico Union Community and all stakeholders by using Information Communications Teknowledgy, (ICT), open source software, education, and civic engagement.I have experience in R&D, learning management systems (LMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP). My goal is to utilize my skills and experiences to attract and work with others through the Pico Union NC to develop a stronger sense of a community working together to empower Pico Union.
Louis A. Shapiro – I am running because I am a patriotic American who wants to help others in our neighborhood to enjoy the freedom of democracy. They might have come from a dictatorship or a county ruled by economic interests and don’t know much about our system which I have been privileged to live in all my life. I want fresh blodd in our system. I think our democracy has gotten a bit stale and it needs new people. These people in our neighborhood have come here for a better life. Our country is the place where they can be free to have ideas for expansion and growth. We have given our country to the professional politicians, but these people are going to bring back the original ideas of our forefathers and I want to see it happen.

Rick C. Rodriguez – I AM DR. RICK C RODRIGUEZ RESIDENT OF PICO UNION NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL (PUNC) AND VICE PRESIDENT OF PUNC. I AM APPLYING FOR SENIOR CITIZEN REPRESENTATIVE FOR PUNC. THE REASON THAT I AM A CANDIDATE IS TO: “MAKE THE PICO UNION NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL WHAT IT SHOULD BE”. I AM RETIRED AND DEDICATED TO WORK FULL TIME ON PUNC ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS. I CAN LINK THE PICO UNION COMMUNITY AND THEIR ISSUES FOR GOOD CITY SERVICES AND GOVERNMENT BY BEING PROACTIVE AND FOCUSING ON COMMUNITY ISSUES, SOLUTIONS AND “ACTION.” I HAVE WORKED IN HUMAN RESOURCES AND LABOR RELATIONS FOR 25 SUCCESSFUL YEARS. THEN, I HAD A COUNSELING PRACTICE FOR 15 GOOD YEARS. I AM A MEMBER OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, THE KOPLING SOCIETY AND IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH. I AM AN ADVOCATE OF THE PICO UNION COMMUNITY COALITION OF 100 MEMBERS. A VOTE FOR ME MEANS: “MAKE PICO UNION NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL WHAT IT SHOULD BE.”
Jane Scott – I am a senior citizen, a retired professor fromLATTC, VP of Kolping Society. Been active in the community since I have lived here.
Community Based Organization Representative Term: 4 years 3 Elected Stakeholders who are members of an organization or public agency which serves or has facilities in the Pico Union Neighborhood Council area such as non-profit organizations, block clubs, neighborhood associations, homeowner, apartment or condominium associations, school/parent groups, faith based organizations, senior citizen organizations, a chamber of commerce, business groups, art associations, political action groups, service organizations, park advisory boards, cultural groups, library friends groups, environmental groups, neighborhood watch groups, police advisory boards, public agencies, and/or redevelopment action boards. Miguel Angel Amaya – As a member of the Outreach Committee for Pico-Union Neighborhood Council, and my more than 4 years inside the Pico-Union District, I have come to understand the needs of the community. Our area is presently affected by drugs, prostitution, gangs, and trash. The only way we can correct those issues is by joining forces. Working together will help us create a better Pico-Union. Zoila A Banuelos – I am a marry woman. My community base organization is St Thomas’ Catholic Church. I am now a board member of the Pico Union Neighborhood Council. I am a leader in my community.
Israel Chaidez – My name is Israel Chaidez and I’m running for Community Based Organization District 1. My kids go to Camino Nuevo and West Adams High School. I have lived in the community since 1988. As a current board member of the Pico Union Zoning, Land Use & Planning Committee, we have been able to approve several new positive real estate construction projects in the Pico Union district. With your vote, I can continue being part of the positive changes that our neighborhood highly deserves.
Estrella Marisol Galindo – I service the area of Pico Union and the emprovement of the area is my goal. I want to be a part of the Neighborhood Council to help develop better proyects. Vote for me and I will give my best to make Pico Union District a better place to live, work and visit.
