Mayor Eric Garcetti released his proposed City budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year on April 19th. The proposal – which is not finalized or adopted until it first passes through a review process that includes the City Council and Chief Administrative Officer – includes plans for Vision Zero, homelessness, sustainability, and preparations for the 2028 Olympics.

The full proposal with supplemental files can be viewed via City Clerk’s Council File Management System; it is Council File 18-0600: https://cityclerk.lacity.org/lacityclerkconnect/index.cfm?fa=ccfi.viewrecord&cfnumber=18-0600.

Included there is a summary of the proposal from the Mayor’s office. As of this writing (April 20th), that Council File also includes Community Impact Statements from Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and Porter Ranch Neighborhood Councils, and we know several other Councils have their statements in the works.

Now is the time to get your Community Impact Statement in about next year’s City budget, if you haven’t already done so. Though you may submit your CIS at any time during (or even after) the review process, it will have maximum leverage if you can get it in while Mayor’s proposal is discussed by the City Council’s Budget & Finance Committee. Here’s the schedule for the Budget & Finance Committee’s City Budget Proposal discussion, which is currently scheduled to take place April 27th – May 11th: http://ens.lacity.org/clk/committeeagend/clkcommitteeagend18120060_04272018.html.
