Westsiders, mark your calendars for Sunday, June 1. From 11am to 4pm, the SoRoFest Community Festival, on South Robertson Boulevard between Beverlywood Street and Cattaraugus Street (just North of the 10 Freeway at the Robertson Boulevard exit) is open to the public.
This year’s theme is “Many Neighborhoods Create One Great Community!
SoRoFest 2014 Festival features a live music stage, “Camp SoRo”, a rock-climbing wall and free arts & crafts for children provided by Joanne’s Craft and Fabrics, and over 100 vendor booths highlighting neighborhood businesses, community information and a variety of merchandise. It will also offer an emergency preparedness pavilion with demonstrations from LAPD, LAFD, FEMA, and other first responders and have the opportunity to feel the effects of a simulated 8.0 magnitude earthquake through the Earthquake Cottage.
The Festival will also serve up a variety of culinary delights from some of Los Angeles’ hottest gourmet food trucks, including, Bool Korean BBQ Tacos & Pastels, Currywurst Truck, Trailer Park Truck, Kosher Palate, Fat Burger, Frozen Crush and King Kone Ice Cream Co.
The Festival stage will spotlight live musical and dance performances from some of SoCal’s talented young performers, with scheduled appearances by World Garden Dance and Music Studio, Kids of Rock Theatre , Spanish and Classical Flamenco Dance by Susana Elena and the top 40 and Latin soul sound of The Westside Crew.
A non-profit undertaking, staffed entirely by volunteers, the SoRoFest 2014 Festival celebrates the broad diversity and sense of unity that exists among the some 45,000 people who live or work in the seven neighborhoods encompassed in the South Robertson community. It encourages beautification and revitalization of the SoRo corridor, where people can shop, dine, and enjoy a good quality of life, and it is committed to strengthening local educational institutions.
Boasting an attendance of 12,000 people who attend each year, the SoRoFest 2014 Festival’s proceeds support local schools and community improvement projects. The SoRoFest 2014 Community Festival is coordinated by the South Robertson Neighborhoods Council and SoRo, Inc.
We would like to invite the entire Southern California community to join our event. Admission to the SoRoFest 2014 Community Festival is free. Free street parking is also available.
