The Los Angeles City Council is scheduled to discuss amending the Los Angeles Municipal Code to establish Indigenous Peoples Day as an official city holiday. Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell is encouraging Angelenos to weigh in on the matter before Council decides on the item on August 30. If passed, the motion would instruct the City Attorney’s Office to prepare a draft ordinance for the Council to consider.  Councilmember O’Farrell is also requesting Community Impact Statements from Neighborhood Councils. August 30th will be the first of two votes on the matter with the draft ordinance language the second.  For information, please contact William Ayala at 213-473-7013.  READ MORE
