When the US State Department organizes tours for international delegations, the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment is often a destination on their itinerary. It turns out the EmpowerLA model is known to people all over the world. They know that Los Angeles is the capital of civic engagement, and they want to see it first-hand.

Just this week we received a group of professional from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The delegates came from a variety of backgrounds, including businesses and finance, politics, marketing, and community medicine. Just like us, they are all looking for opportunities to connect with like-minded folks and found some great counterparts in Los Angeles: our General Manager Grayce Liu, City Attorney Mike Feuer, and members of the EmpowerLA team.

No matter where you’re coming from there’s nothing like civic engagement to bring people together!
