Maria Annette Skelton – I Maria Skelton, would like to stay on the Board as President of the Outreach Dept. I enjoy going out to the community to see what changes they need as well as want. As a Board member I put a calendar together for this year for events that we as “VNNC” could get involved in. I believe that many of us could sit behind close doors and say what we want to change. But, it’s one thing to go out into our community and make things happen. We need to be at the schools, gyms, parks, churches etc. The more that we “VNNC” are in the public doing good things the more the public will say/think good things about “VNNC”. I would like another chance to improve the “VNNC” outreach to the community. I’ve live and work in Van Nuys for almost 14 years.

Derek Waleko – I have been serving my community as a Van Nuys Neighborhood Council (VNNC) board member for the last three years. I served as president of the VNNC and am proud of the great accomplishments our board has been a part of throughout the years, such as beautification projects at Van Nuys Elementary School, worthy public service announcements at St. Elizabethâ??s Church, and holiday community events that serve under-privileged children. There is much more work to be done, like revitalizing the Van Nuys Blvd., and I look forward to accomplishing this task and many others. Neighborhood councils are a great conduit for getting involved with local government and making changes within our communities. Jerry MartinI am interested on improving the area. By doing so with Public Transit. Such as Metro, LADOT, Metrolink and Amtrak. All serve our community in many ways. Of we can get better Bus and Rail Services in the area. It will allow job centers to grow. And will attract new businesses to the area. Also will allow residents to travel to other areas of the region. To do so, we need to work with Metro, LADOT, Metrolink and Amtrak. Van Nuys is the only other Community in the City and County of Los Angeles. That has an Amtrak Station/ Transit Hub. I am pushing to expand Van Nuys Amtrak/Transit Hub to grow. By making a transit hub grow. It will encourage redevelopment and rebuilding of many old run down sites. While allowing new sites to also to be developed. That will allow Van Nuys to grow.
Robert McMurrer – I love the arts. I work in the front and behind of the camera and I want to inspire others to follow their dreams.
