Voices Neighborhood Council and Councilman Curren Price are partnering with Normandie Avenue Elementary School for a Walk to School Day event next Wednesday, October 8.
Normandie Avenue Elementary School Walk to School Day begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:00 a.m. on the School Playground. Meet us beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Corner of Vernon Avenue and Raymond Avenue to begin our walk into the school and on to the playground.
- Walking is known to improve academic performance.
- Walking gives children good life experience.
- Walking gets children outdoors.
- Walking provides daily exercise for children.
Walk to School Day galvanizes visibility for walking and bicycling to school. Over time, this event has been part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. Today, thousands of schools across America and in more than 40 countries worldwide celebrate walking to school every October.
