CANDIDATES FILED:
Shawn Kuk – I would love the opportunity to continue with all of the small but altogether meaningful efforts started during my first term on the NC. There is much unfinished business and I would be thrilled to be given the opportunity to push forward with our goals and continue building capacity in our NC and also to build those critical relationships with our stakeholders, city officials and community partners. The social and economic vitality of the WCKNC area is second to none in Los Angeles and it’s about time that the quality of life conditions (streets, parks, community centers, libraries, schools, affordable housing, transportation, etc.) measure up to our tireless energy and productivity. All we ask is our fair share. Let’s think out our strategies and allow our resources to follow in kind. One measured step at a time and no looking back…for the time being.
Franks J. Park – I want our district to improve quality of life of everyone.
Scott Suh R6_WCKTNCScott Suh – Former city area planning commissioner – Former Mayor office Director. – Best candidate to represent the district.
Caroline J Sim – I have served on the WCKNC for 1 year already and feel that I have learned enough about the process to further assist in the development of the WCKNC community.
Jeannie Hee Lee – Grocers Association
Sung Hoon Yoon – Korean American United Foundation
Christine Najung Lee –
Niall Kelly – My first term on the Wilshire Center-Koreatown Neighborhood Council has only added to my appreciation of this neighborhood as a diverse and vibrant place full of opportunities. I hope to be able to continue to work with residents, businesses and City representatives to improve the quality of life for all.
David_RyuDavid E. Ryu – I have a history of service, working for local & international non-profit organizations & LA County Supervisor Yvonne Burke. My experiences have given me the knowledge & proven know how, to connect people & communities to each other & to government services. Moreover, I had the privilege to serve on WCKNC for 4+ years, and I ask for your vote to serve.Mid-Wilshire area, is one of the most thriving but also the most densely populated communities in LA; and we seriously have our problems. Traffic congestion & over-development leads to issues in public safety & quality of life. There is a â??lackâ?쳌 of a cohesive master community planning & collaboration between neighborhoods and government. The city has done a poor job and we at WCKNC have continued to build capacity and push for effective inclusion to the decision making process. Please give me the opportunity to continue this fight.
Manuel Flores – As a current WCKNC board member, it would be an honor to continue working with the neighborhood council and apply the knowledge I have gained to better serve and outreach to the Wilshire Koreatown community.

Vahe G – I lived here for 3 years, but was very active will areas of Los Angeles, very active in all kinds of liveable open streets movements. Also I am a very talented programmer, in Google Security Hall of Fame,etc.. long story short instead of being one of those guys in San Francisco Google Buses which long time residents of SF are rightfully against.. I’m here and want to improve with my neighbors what we have here, using real data, feedback from people, and latest ideas in thing that we can call “placemaking” and technologies to help get to point where we’ll be feeling good in this area, whether just walking, biking, or driving and trying to find parking.

CANDIDATES FILED:
Chima Anyadike-Danes – I am a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of California, Irvine, and as a result of my research I’ve lived in Koreatown on and off for a couple of years before finally permanently settling in the area six months ago; attracted by its vibrancy and energy. However, as with many others, I am aware that the neighborhood lacks the services that it deserves. Amongst other things we desperately need: safe and affordable housing, significantly more public transportation, and dedicated spaces, like parks, for congregation and recreation. As my research involves studying municipal government, I am aware that any such changes occur slowly and incrementally. However, I am convinced that the WCKNC is the best available means for building a dialogue with the city and achieving these goals. And I would be proud to be a part of it and help to push things forward.
