Downtown LA Neighborhood Council board member Wendell Blassingame was recognized by the Los Angeles City Council for his selfless efforts to help his less fortunate neighbors. He has devoted countless hours; his own resources; and even put his own signature on the line to help others with a hand up, not a hand out.

He helped over 100 individuals become gainfully employed through the 2018 Skid Row Job Fair, which he coordinated. And in 2018 alone, he has assisted at least 200 people to secure housing.

As Councilmember Mitchell Englander stated, when he introduced Mr. Blassingame to the City Council: Wendell is fixing LA, one person at a time, every single day, on his own, with no pay.

Congratulations Wendell! Job well done!
