Echo_Park_StreetscapeECHO PARK – The Sunset Boulevard Streetscape Improvement Project is underway in the 13th District with the Bureau of Street Services recently beginning work on sidewalks and curbs.

The Streetscape project was announced by City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell and Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) in April This project will provide more than 120 new street trees, nine solar powered trash receptacles, 13 benches, seven bike racks, and high visibility crosswalks

“This is so exciting to watch this beautification project unfold,” said Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell. “Thanks to our partnership with Congressman Becerra, the City is improving the look and feel of this neighborhood, and creating an inviting atmosphere for those who visit the local businesses along Sunset Blvd. I can’t wait for the dedication in the coming weeks.”

The Bureau of Street Services recently trimmed trees and resurfaced sidewalks in Echo Park between Logan Street and Echo Park Avenue. The project stretches from Everett Street to Rosemont Avenue.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $863,000 and has a targeted completion date in September 2014.
