Vision My vision is to make ECCANDC better when my term is up in 2014 by bringing all stakeholders together to reach some common goals: increase economics development, improve the quality of life, and to make the place we call home a safer place to live and work. Also, look closely at issues that are important to all stakeholders in our area and craft policy with solutions that will lift up the community. Making it once again the home of the brave, and the home of the safe.Mission My mission: ENGAGE; EDUCATE; EMPOWER! PROVIDE LEADERSHIP! 1.) Work with Stakeholders, The Governing Body, Executive Committee, and The Standing Committees to identify and monitor community concerns, and work with City Officials to identify resources to address community concerns and create a plan of action with real solutions.

2.) Adhere to all the laws that governs ECCANDC, Guidelines set forth by The City of Los Angeles and The Department of Neighborhood Empowerment

Corey Williams Flournoy

My name is Corey Williams Flournoy. I am running for Chair of EC Central, in order to strengthen our community economically, while preserving and enhancing the qualities of life. I believe in practical and common sense leadership that unites our community. Family, safety, and education are important. I will utilize my law enforcement experience to help bridge the gap between our community and police department. I will work tirelessly with our public agencies to maintain a safe community for all and address concerns promptly. Education is key component for a thriving community. Our children are facing an uncertain future because of budget cuts. As a college professor, I am deeply invested in our education system, and will be a tireless advocate for education. I pledge to work with our city agencies and officials, fellow residents, and local churches to make our community a better place to live for us all.

Wendy Guzman

I am seeking to “Empower” my community. I seek to accomplish this through teamwork

[from the youngest members to the senior members]. I am a fourteen year member of this community, attending local schools and majoring in natural science and social science in college. We can hope that others bring change and are motivated to improve our lives or we can be the change we wish to see. If you are ready to move forward and work toward fulfilling your own vision of what you want your community to be; then please take action and let your voice be heard. Walk with me and let’s take that first step together and you’ll see that the next steps will not be as hard.

My name is Elder Lana McLeod-Smith and I currently serve on the Board as Member at Large for the NC. I have served the Community for over 10 years within the Religious/Faith Based Organizations and have worked with several projects for clothes distribution, food programs, referrals for domestic violence, homelessness and mental health. It is my nature to serve and I would like the opportunity to continue to serve as Area 2 Representative to ensure the Community is heard and their needs/concerns are addressed and resolved, as quickly as possible.

Charletta Butler

I have come to this Council to represent myself and those whom whisper.  No more, that our elected Council person is only involved with our issues when it directly benefits him.  He should be accountable for the stakeholders dream of peace, happiness and pride. Not illegal businesses on our streets, sidewalks and railroads.  On Western Avenue, appliances, hot cook pits, wide as the side walks, unsafe conditions.  One police officer was asked, why no one is enforcing illegal sales?  His reply, these are misfortune individuals down to their luck.  My reply, so are the prostitutes but your picking them up.  Enough of Area 2 being shunned and shushed.  We earned our due diligence.  The ball has been dropped in our neighborhood.  It is time we bounce back and force our referees to get the blight out of our arena.  I question is this area deliberate?  Lets get answers.

Roderick Culpepper

I AM RUNNING FOR THE AREA 2 GOVERNING BODY BOARD SEAT BECAUSE IT’S VACANT AND BECAUSE IT’S TIME TO MAKE THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES INCREASE THE CITY SERVICES (REPAIR STREETS AND SIDEWALKS ETC.)FOR STAKEHOLDERS IN MY COMMUNITY. THE STAKEHOLDERS IN MY COMMUNITY PAY CITY TAXES AN SHOULD GET THE HIGHEST RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT. WHY LET THE CITY SPEND OUR CITY TAX DOLLARS IN ANOTHER COUNCIL DISTRICT? NOT ON MY WATCH! I WILL HELP EDUCATE, EMPOWER, AND ENGAGE ALL STAKEHOLDERS IN THE COMMUNITY. WE NEED NEW LEADERS ON THE BOARD, AND NOT JUST THE SAME OLD BOARD MEMBERS WHO RUN EVERY TWO YEARS. WE NEED OUR STAKEHOLDERS IN THE COMMUNITY TO BECOME MEMBERS TO STANDING COMMITTEES ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL, SO IN CONCLUSION CIVI ENGAGEMENT IS MY PRIORITY AS AN INCOMING BOARD MEMBER.

Area 3 Representatives Term: 2 years 2 Elected Stakeholders who are 18 years or older who live, work, attend school or church, own property or a business within the Area 3 boundary. Stakeholders 16 years or older who live, work, own property or a business, attend school or church within the NC boundary.

I am committed to serving the community. I am willing to continue to stand to help insure that the voice of the community is heard. I am willing to stand alone or with others to help insure that the community served by the board is represented at city and board events. My four year experience on the board has helped prepare me to better serve and address the needs of the community. I am the candidate of change for Area 3.

Cloteal Wong

I am running because I am interested in improvement of my community. As I drive through my neighborhood I see blight and other things going on that I would like to address.

Stakeholder Associate Representative Term: 2 years  1 Elected A stakeholder who is 18 years or older who declares a stake in the NC area and affirms a factual basis for it within the NC boundary. Stakeholders who live, work, own property or a business, attend school or church or who declare a stake within the NC boundary and affirm a factual basis for it and who are 16 years or older.

I am running for a position as Stakeholder in Empowerment Council Central because I want to make a difference in the lives of families, students and seniors. I am especially interested in developing facilities for community pre-schools as a positive intervention/prevention to high school drop-outs. I stress family self-sufficiency.

Deborah Hamilton-McNair

I have a vested interest in the NC because I grown-up and remained a resident in the neighbor for more than 30 years. My children have also grown-up in the neighborhood too. I think we have a great neighborhood and I would like for it to remain that way; with some needed improvements. It takes a community that have a desire to see change and take action to make it happen.
