I want to see my neighborhood better developed and an increase in its property value. Of course, in order to achieve this end results we need more mid-high level of business centers, shopping centers and schools. I just don’t want to speak of how bad my area is but to be part of the solution.

Dorothy Napoleon

My reason I want to be on the board so that I can help my Neighborhood to be better in rebuilding their hope and faith, and to let them know about many things that is going on in the city and state
We must reach out to help all people for the best, for our neighborhood.

Lonella (Joy) Enix – Area 1

I’m a recent AT&T retiree, a business owner, member of both the Community Coalition and SCOPE/AGENDA and an active participant on the South West Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Land Use Committee. As a third generation resident, I have experienced, first hand, our community’s challenges but am also inspired by its possibility. There’s a lot of work to be done around economic revitalization and gang intervention, strengthening our schools, commanding attention and cooperation from city hall and developing innovative ways to encourage our neighbors to actively participate. Having the opportunity to help support our community by being a part of the ECSWNC would be an honor.

Organizational Stakeholder

Community stakeholder who is 16 years of age at the time of the election.

My reason for running for a board seat on the Region 9 Neighborhood Council is related to my passion for community empowerment and community uplift.  I have resided in Los Angeles since 1993 and my current location since 2009.  I am a social worker by trade and an activist at heart.  I’m a husband, father, brother, and friend,  If given the opportunity, I would be an asset to the Neighborhood Council.  I thank you for your consideration in advance.

Kokayi Kwa Jitahidi

I am running for At-Large Representative because I want to finish the work I began in my first term. As At-Large Representative, I revived our Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee and made it one of the most active in the region. Under my leadership, we have successfully engaged the federal government, city council, LAPD and stakeholders around important issues like medical marijuana dispensaries, community planning and economic development. Under my leadership, we established a relationship with USC planning students who are assisting us in our plan to bring community development to West Park Terrace. I organized a process which resulted in a report that will guide our development plan. For my next term, I want to implement the West Park Terrace plan, work to stop illegal medical marijuana dispensaries from operating in the area and work to establish ECSWANDC as the strongest council in South Los Angeles.

I have served as the Area 3 Representative for the past two years, although challenging, it has been a rewarding 24 months, I have witnessed the growth and transformation of the our board, and have played an active role in awarding purpose grants to community organizations, and schools. This process has been a gradual learning process for me, but through it all, I have become better equipped to be the voice that raises and expresses your concerns. With your vote of confidence I plan to continue being that voice and an agent of change!

Priscilla Smith

For over 10 years I have been the president of the Normandie Halldale Block Club. I would a like to continue be a council member on the Empowerment Committee for the coming 2012-2014 years. As a continuing member, I look forward to being a voice that will benefit and keep our neighbors and communities informed, empowered, and engaged.

Sincerely
