Nominations are open for the 2018 EmpowerLA Awards! Each year, seven Neighborhood Councils are honored by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners for projects that do an especially outstanding job of increasing civic engagement and making government more responsive to local needs. The 2018 theme is “Innovative Civic Engagement.”

Submit an EmpowerLA Award nomination

To be considered for an EmpowerLA Award, a Neighborhood Council must be nominated, and the nomination must name a specific project undertaken by that Council during 2017. You may nominate your own Neighborhood Council or others, and if your board partnered with another Neighborhood Council or Councils for this project, that counts, too.

Nominations for EmpowerLA Award consideration can be submitted using this form. The submission deadline is Friday, March 16th at 5:00 PM. One project from each of the 7 Planning Areas in the City – South, Harbor, East, Central, West, South Valley and North Valley – will be selected.

RSVP for the EmpowerLA Awards dinner on Thursday, March 29th

Please join us to celebrate each others’ successes at the EmpowerLA Awards dinner and event, happening the evening of Thursday, March 29th. Registration is required; please RSVP via this form.

Nominate a City Department or Employee for a Vanguard Award

We are also seeking nominations for the Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles Vanguard Award. The NCCELAV Award recognizes City departments and employees doing outstanding collaborations with Neighborhood Councils to benefit Angelenos. Nominations must come from Neighborhood Council members, and collaborations nominated for a Vanguard Award must have taken place during 2017. Nominees will be reviewed by EmpowerLA and the Congress of Neighborhoods Planning Committee for the final selection. To make a Vanguard Award nomination, use this form. Deadline for Vanguard Award submissions is Friday, March 16th at 5:00 PM.

Neighborhood Council Spirit Awards

At the dinner on March 29th, EmpowerLA will also be giving Neighborhood Council Spirit Awards to board members who have made an impact beyond their Neighborhood Council to benefit the entire system.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on March 29th!
