Nominations are open for the 2019 EmpowerLA Awards! Each year, seven Neighborhood Councils are honored by the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners for projects that do an especially outstanding job of increasing civic engagement and making government more responsive to local needs. The 2019 theme is “Building the Future of Civic Engagement.”

Submit an EmpowerLA Award nomination

To be considered for an EmpowerLA Award, a Neighborhood Council must be nominated, and the nomination must name a specific project undertaken by that Council during 2018. You may nominate your own Neighborhood Council or others, and if your board partnered with another Neighborhood Council or Councils for this project, that counts, too.

Nominations for EmpowerLA Award consideration can be submitted using THIS FORM. The submission deadline is TODAYFriday, February 15th at 5:00 PM. One project from each of the 7 Planning Areas in the City – South, Harbor, East, Central, West, South Valley and North Valley – will be selected.

Nominate a City Department or Employee for a Vanguard Award

We are also seeking nominations for the Neighborhood Council Civic Engagement Los Angeles Vanguard Award. Nominations must come from Neighborhood Council members, and collaborations nominated for a Vanguard Award must have taken place during 2018. Nominees will be reviewed by EmpowerLA and the Congress of Neighborhoods Planning Committee for the final selection. To make a Vanguard Award nomination, USE THIS FORM. Deadline for Vanguard Award submissions is TODAYFriday, February 15th at 5:00 PM.

Neighborhood Council Spirit Awards

At the dinner on March 28th, EmpowerLA will also be giving Neighborhood Council Spirit Awards to board members who have made an impact beyond their Neighborhood Council to benefit the entire system.

We’re looking forward to seeing you on March 28th!
