Last Saturday, EmpowerLA joined thousands of women from all over Greater Los Angeles to attend the United State of Women Summit. EmpowerLA had a blast networking with other women, collaborating with organizations supporting womens’ causes, and encouraging women to get involved in LA’s Neighborhood Council system.
We were inspired by speakers like Senator Kamala Harris, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and Mayor Eric Garcetti, and were glad to run into men who attended the event to support women’s rights, like Nicholas Greif from Councilmember David Ryu’s office (who also serves as President of Palms NC).
EmpowerLA’s team was joined by members of our inaugural graduating class from our IgniteLA program – a leadership development series for young Angelenas seeking to serve and better their communities. We look forward to enhancing our second cohort of IgniteLA with the connections made at the 2018 United State of Women Summit…stay tuned!
