RachelRohac_EagleRock.REg8Rachel Rohac – As an Eagle Rock homeowner, I have a vested interested in the success and development of our community. It will be my focus as Art Director chair to ensure that Eagle Rock maintains its unique character as it continues to grow and develop. To help maintain a strong cultural center for our neighborhood, I will collaborate with the Center for the Arts and local businesses to provide greater support and community involvement in local events. I believe the continued development and investment in local culture is critical to the growth of our community and the education of our children. Along with being a consumer of the arts, my profession as a librarian at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and graduate work at UCLA’s Arts & Research Libraries has prepared me to serve our neighborhood’s cultural needs. I ask for your vote and support as Art Director chair. Thank you!
Chris Hulen2Christina Hulen Part of what makes Eagle Rock so unique is its plentiful and diverse arts community. This includes monthly financial reporting, payment processing, distribution of grants to neighborhood non-profits and schools, budget preparation and liaising with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment. I am committed to helping the ERNC be fiscally responsible and organizationally adept so that its limited resources can bring maximum benefit to Eagle Rock. In addition, my ten years of professional experience in local government and urban planning allow me to serve as a resource on many of the other issues facing our neighborhood. I would be pleased to serve the ERNC as treasurer for a second term.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAndreina Thielen Martin – After having studied at Dahlia Heights Elementary and Eagle Rock High School, I feel it has become my duty to represent the youth of my hometown. Now as a student at CSU Los Angeles, still living in Eagle Rock, I’m learning about the importance of civic engagement. My 11+ seasons playing with co-ed athletics at ERRC have also been beneficial in my understanding of this grand community. I hope to gain you’re support because I do want a better Eagle Rock!
Merci Magallanes R8_ERNCMerci Magallanes – In the sixteen years I’ve been alive, I’ve been living within the tight-knit, community oriented, and beautiful Eagle Rock. Becoming youth director gives me an excellent opportunity to give back to the same community I’ve gained so much from. Although I’m young, my age gives me an advantage. Instead of hindering me, it helps me empathize with the youth of our community, keep a level head on my shoulders, and help lead our upcoming generation into a brighter future. Besides, who better to understand the youth of Eagle Rock, than a fellow youth?
Eddie Ramirez R8_ERNCEddie Ramirez – I currently serve on the ERNC as one of the Civic Directors and also serve on the Land Use Committee, where I have really enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in discussions/actions that have improved OUR COMMINITY!By profession, I am a licensed Realtor but I’ve decided to run for the Youth Director because I’ve been involved with youth programs for a long time… …since my son was in little league (he is now 26). I am an avid cyclist and over the last few years I’ve been involved coaching youth. I am the Junior Coach for my cycling club (www.paacycling.net), and proud to say that one of my juniors won Track State Championships and another won Mountain Bike National Championships in their age division respectively last year. With your support and involvement, we’ll get our youth doing more than just playing video games and/or watching television.

Soumya B Kandukuri R8_ERNCSoumya B Kandukuri – As a student of Occidental College, I want to bridge the gap between an energetic and passionate group of youth and the Eagle Rock community to increase civic engagement. I have seen firsthand the zeal Occidental students have for creating a positive social impact in their environment, and I wish to channel this youth energy into more participation with local Eagle Rock businesses and community members. Oxy already has strong ties with the local high, middle, and elementary schools, and I want to extend these connections to local community organizations such as Take Back The Boulevard and the Center for the Arts.

Michelle Helseth R8_ERNCMichelle Helseth – Eagle Rock, a safe and central community just recognized as one of the most sought-after area’s to live in, has a leg up in the current financial recovery. Having purchased my home here 14 years ago I am thrilled to see this resurgence, and the opportunities this brings our neighborhood.I have owned and operated Native Boutique in Hollywood for the 17 years, and recently opened a location in Eagle Rock.
I would be very honored to bring my 17 years experience, and, commitment, to the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council. Being doubly invested in Eagle Rock, I am doubly interested in keeping its small town charm, while supporting its rejuvenation In the words of our President, “Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the backbone of an economy built to last…” Just like Eagle Rock.So I humbly ask for your VOTE!

CANDIDATES FILED:
Arturo Gomez Tagle R8_ERNCArturo Gomez Tagle – I want people to change. We live in a society that is bereft with crime and unethical behavior. We need to ask more of our neighbors and more of ourselves. Together we can make this community safer. Graffiti, vandalism and crime are all things that I believe we can reduce if we work together.
Jennifer McCormick R8_ERNCJennifer K McCormick – As an Eagle Rock homeowner and a mother of two, I have a deeply vested interest in the safety of the community. I am a recent resident of Eagle Rock, and would love to help in keeping the neighborhood on its path as a family-friendly haven in the middle of Los Angeles. The inhabitants of Eagle Rock deserve to feel safe and secure in its borders. Although the neighborhood often has a small-town feel, the urban setting provides its own challenges to public safety. I would like to help in that capacity. I have an interest in Public Safety as evidenced by my educational background. I have a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, and have worked for years in law. I am fully committed in working with the ERNC and the community to ensure that both residents and visitors feel safe in our community.
Tim Ryder R8_ERNCTim F Ryder – Safety is the main concern for every stakeholder here and as a member of Neighborhood Watch I understand first hand what the crime situation is here in Eagle Rock and what we as a community need to do to make sure it goes away. I have a simple platform for bringing safety and integrity back to Eagle Rock. No.1. We need to welcome the Medical Marijuana dispensaries back into Eagle Rock because they did not create any crime and are an asset to the community. No 2. We need to Take Back Our Auto Lane which was taken away by outside special interests and anonymous bicycle advocates creating traffic and unsafe conditions. No 3. We need to Recall an unethical politician who uses his 180,000 salary to make a mockery of the public trust by philandering and other blatant abuses of power.

Rachel_BrockmanRachel Brockman – Originally from the Midwest, I moved to Los Angeles in 2001 for a Masters degree in Architecture. Since then, I’ve moved around NELA and worked at retail design firms, finally settling in Eagle Rock after falling in love with its “old school” charm. The Colorado Blvd stretch of Sub-District 1 is well established but there are also new businesses moving in. I believe my experience with retail design would prove beneficial when proposed businesses are being presented to the ERNC. I would ensure that Eagle Rocks character is maintained while keeping an open mind to new and innovative business plans. While excited about the growing community I also realize that the nearby residents have to make certain concessions for living in such a bustling area. As Sub-District 1 Director, I would make sure that these residents have a voice at the ERNC and will benefit from the local commerce.
Sub-District 2 Director

Thomas_FitchThomas William Fitch – I am a recent transplant to Southern California and instantly fell in love with my neighborhood of Eagle Rock. We have the perfect mix of homes, schools, and businesses! However, It strikes me as an area in transition. There are run down areas next to bustling new ones, crumbling walls next to works of art. I want to keep the momentum moving forward and help create an area that blends the safe feel of our residential streets with a destination boulevard our neighbors can enjoy. At 29 I feel I can effectively represent the youth of Eagle Rock while managing the responsibilities of this position. We’re experiencing a renaissance, please elect me to keep paint flowing!

Jesse Saucedo R8_ERNCJesse Saucedo – A recent homeowner in Eagle Rock, I am a longtime public servant. My wife and I recently moved back to California after living in Boston and Washington, DC. I am a Texas native, but attended USC for my Masters degree, and have lived in LA for seven of the past eleven years. As six-month residents of Eagle Rock, we enjoy being able to walk to the grocery store, area restaurants, and small businesses including panaderias and carnicerias. As a housing and economic development professional, I care about community engagement, youth development, and small business growth. Previously, I served over ten years working with elected officials at the federal, state and local levels. I am confident my skill set and enthusiasm would be an asset to the ERNC.I ask for your vote for Sub-District 3 Director and look forward to collaborating with passionate neighbors to create a sustainable Eagle Rock.
Sarah Garber R8_ERNCSarah Garber – Though I am an LA native I must admit I rarely thought of Eagle Rock as anything more than the place between Pasadena and Glendale until I moved here in 2010. Since then, I have discovered the wonderful businesses, vibrant community and surprisingly â??small townâ?쳌 feel Eagle Rock has to offer and am now quick to correct anyone who would make the same mistake I once did. I am eager to be involved in helping to guide our neighborhood as it continues to develop and grow while still maintaining the distinctive charm that has attracted so many of us here. As a real estate attorney and small-lot subdivision homeowner in Eagle Rock I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the diverse voices that make up our neighborhood council. I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve our community and hope I can get your vote.

Additionally, in the past year I’ve spearheaded efforts to gauge the viability and community support for an off-leash dog park here in Eagle Rock, forming the group “Dogs of the Rock” and heading its committee in the process. As a communications and marketing professional, I would welcome the opportunity to continue serving and communicating our community’s needs for another term

As an Architect and Planner, I serve the neighborhood and the ERNC to insure Eagle Rock grows through quality development, keeps its quirky charm and remains a haven for families. Elizabeth Rachel Weinberg R8_ERNCElizabeth Weinberg – As a new homeowner in Eagle Rock with a young family, I believe in the importance of community involvement, especially relating to improvements in walkability and street safety. After living in Brooklyn for eight years, I have seen firsthand the benefits of pedestrian and bicycle-friendly initiatives on the quality of life and cultural vibrancy of neighborhoods. I believe Eagle Rock is a gem and can only become a more desirable place to live, work, and raise a family.

John GoldfarbJohn Goldfarb – Since moving to Eagle Rock a little over ten years ago, I’ve watched our neighborhood grow into an increasingly appealing place to live and work. I currently serve on the ERNC as General Stakeholder and as a member of the Land Use and Planning Committee, where I’ve favored residential and business development that makes a positive contribution to the community and is consistent with our unique character. I welcome the new crosswalks and bike lanes, abhor trash and graffiti, look forward to the eventual construction of landscaped medians between Eagle Rock Boulevard and Sierra Villa, have advocated for the construction of a long-delayed sound wall along a portion of the 134, and am part of a group that is working to establish a new dog park. It would be a privilege to remain on the Council and represent my neighbors in Subdistrict 8.
Boulevards Director Term: 2 years 1 Elected Stakeholder who lives, works, owns property within ERNC and who is 16 years or older. Stakeholders who live, work, own property within ERNC and who are 16 years or older.
CANDIDATES FILED:
Daniel_House_Reg8_ERNC_2014Daniel House – It’s been almost 10 years since my wife and I purchased our house in Eagle Rock. We’ve watched the neighborhood blossom into one of the more distinct and vibrant places to live in Los Angeles. Over the years, I have attended a number of the ERNC meetings and several of the Land Use and Planning Committee meetings. Recently, I have been involved in reaching out to many of my neighbors in Eagle Rock regarding the opposition of the proposed “Mt. Royal Luxury Gates” development project, as I wish to help ensure that we make appropriate use of our land and our open spaces. I think it’s important that we all share in the stewardship of the development and growth in our neighborhood. As a proud resident of the Eagle Rock community, I ask for your vote and support. I would consider it a privilege.
At-Large Director Term: 2 years 1 Elected Stakeholder who lives, works, owns property within ERNC or who declares a stake in the neighborhood and affirms an ongoing and substantial community interest and who is 16 years or older. At-Large director is a “community interest” stakeholder” seat. CANDIDATES FILED:
David Greene R8_ERNCDavid Greene – I’m an Eagle Rock homeowner, and a proud Dahlia Heights Elementary dad. I’m also the Vice President of the ERNC, and co-chair of the Land Use committee. Since being elected, I’ve worked hard to make the ERNC more user-friendly and relevant to Eagle Rockers’ lives, and to make sure their opinions are respected by a City government built to heed only the loudest voices. I’d like to keep working to attract City services and pilot programs to Eagle Rock, burnishing our reputation as a traditional neighborhood with progressive values. From fewer billboards to more trees and better sidewalks, we can further prove that people-friendly streets and thriving businesses go hand-in-hand. I’d like the next ERNC to use its taxpayer-funded budget to spur change, supporting home-grown ideas that improve Eagle Rock right now, and challenging City officials to match or exceed that investment. Please visit www.eaglerockneighbors.info to learn more.
Robert Guevara
Keith William Black R8_ERNCKeith William Black – I’m a lifetime resident of Eagle Rock. I graduated from ERHS in the 90’s and Glendale Community College with Honors. I currently am attending Cal State LA majoring in Rehabilitative Studies. I’m currently a DUI Educator and Substance Abuse counselor. I love Eagle Rock and want to give back to this community. I believe in keeping the traditions of the town alive. New business is good for the community and change is inevitable but protecting traditions would be a priority. I don’t want Eagle Rock to become a strip mall, carbon copy of surrounding cities.
