Metro, Uber, Lyft, and Lime are all offering free (or deeply discounted) rides to get voters to the polls on Election Day! The City has also relaxed some of the parking restrictions that are normally in place, to help increase voter access.

Metro Los Angeles and six other local public transit agencies are offering free fares all day from midnight till midnight on Tuesday, November 6th. There’s no need to tap your TAP card or show proof of voting to enjoy this offer. 30 minute one-way rides will also be free on the Metro Bike bikeshare system – to waive the fee, enter code 1162018 when you check out a bicycle. See full details and a list of participating Los Angeles-area transit agencies at https://thesource.metro.net/2018/10/30/here-are-all-the-agencies-offering-free-transportation-this-election-day/

Uber offers $10 off the cost of a ride to the polls, if you use promo code VOTE2018. The code may be used one time and applies to the fare on the most affordable Uber option available locally. See how to apply the code in the Uber app at https://www.uber.com/newsroom/update-uber-drives-vote/

You can get a 50% discount on Election Day rides with Lyft if you use a promo code that you can receive by entering your zipcode in the search bar on this page: https://www.buzzfeed.com/pollup2018/welcome-to-pollup2018. To use your code, open the Lyft app; hit the menu button at the top left; and select Promos.

Lime is also offering free 30 minute rides on their scooters this Election Day. Use code LIME2VOTE18 in the Lime app to unlock this promo.

Parking (*City of Los Angeles only*) – while you cannot park in a red zone to go to the polls, many of the city’s other regular parking restrictions are relaxed on Election Day. Within a one-block radius of a polling place, parking meters are free; parking time limits are relaxed; street cleaning restrictions are suspended; and permit parking restrictions are also suspended.

Happy voting – hope to see you at the polls!
