Ross Turmell

My name is Ross Turmell and I would like to continue serving my community in Granada Hills. I ask for your support and vote to remain on the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council as a Member At Large.

I am a Process Development and Filtration Scientist with more than 12 years of experience with planning, creating and executing complex biopharmaceutical operations that produce therapeutics for numerous diseases and illnesses. I have used the skills I have garnered in the biotech space to contribute to the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council for the last two years in my previous term. Most recently I have been appointed the chair of the Neighborhood Watch Sign committee and with the help of the community and council we will clean up these signs in Granada Hills South.

I am a founding member of the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council who is running for another term. I was born and raised in the North San Fernando Valley and want to help keep it the type of community that residents want to raise our children in; I am especially concerned about the upcoming Granada Hills-Knollwood General Plan update, because without a strong neighborhood focus, the qualities that have attracted everyone who lives here could be lost. My name is Cindy Wu-Freedman and I am running for the position of Business Director. I have held various board positions with community based organizations. Currently, I am the President of a non-profit real estate association. I am a graduate of USC and UCLA in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. I will employ my vast business skills and entrepreneurial training to accomplish my tasks in the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council.

I am married to my husband Jason, and have two dogs. I am a past business consultant and currently practice as a real estate advisor.

I have been a resident of North SF Valley for over 30 years. As a property owner, HOA president of my condo complex, and long time resident of this area, I would like to roll up my sleeves and help make this gem of an area really shine. I am in favor of making sure businesses feel welcome to be here. Furthermore, I want to show all residents that live in this council district that they have a voice and it will be heard. Bob Luszczak

Dr. Bob Luszczak has operated White Oak Family Dentistry for the past 20 years and is nearly a life long resident of Granada Hills. Upon the start of his professional career here in Granada Hills, he became actively involved in the many community sponsored organizations that made our town the pleasant place it is to live and work. His involvement with the community of Granada Hills goes all the way back to the original dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial Park in 1972 when he was a member of the Granada Hillbillies 4H Club. He has continued his involvement through the Chamber of Commerce, Old Granada Hills Residents Group, Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, Granada Hills Business Improvement District and St. Euphrasia School and Parish. He looks forward to continuing his commitment of community involvement by serving on the Board of Directors of GHSNC. Thank you for your support.

Dan Wall

I am a lifelong Valley resident with deep roots in this community. I live and own property in the GHSNC District. My wife and I are graduates of CSUN, our oldest child just graduated from Granada Hills Charter High School where she was a member of the National Champion Academic Decathlon Team, and our four other children attend our local schools.
I am a Registered Professional Civil Engineer, and a Real Estate Broker. I have served as the City Engineer and Traffic Engineer for the City of San Fernando. I have been a consultant to several real estate developers known for building sustainable communities including the Newhall Land and Farming Company. As your representative on the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, I will use all of my skills and experience to ensure that our community remains the most desirable and safe place to live, work and play in the Valley.

Jerry also serves as a board member of the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Old Granada Hills Residents group.

– Preventing “Sidewalk Cell Towers” in front of residential properties.
– Clean-up of illegal signage and associated blight.
– Working with merchants and vendors so that the Friday Food Truck event can proceed smoothly.
– Relocation of cabinets that were being bolted to the sides of utility poles, becoming graffiti magnets and hazards for pedestrians.

My name is Anthony Matthews, and I’m originally British – a proud US Citizen for 26 years. I’ve lived in the GHNSC district for six years and in the Valley for 20. I’ve been encouraged by recent GHSNC activities and I’m pleased for the opportunity to participate as a Council member.

I’m in favor of the food trucks, and hope that they will help to revitalize the “High Street” atmosphere of Chatsworth Street. I’m pleased that the Sprouts shopping center is again becoming a thriving commercial area. I shop at the Chatsworth Street Ralphs. I’m concerned about a large range of community issues. I’ve had a career as an engineer, project manager, and small business owner. I’m a professional mediator, and volunteer regularly at local courthouses including Chatsworth and Van Nuys. I’m active on the board of my Homeowner’s Association. If elected, I will bring all this experience to bear.

BONNIE MARIE BURSK is a native Californian, and grew up in the San Fernando Valley, graduating from Granada Hills High School. She has four children, also graduates from Granada High School.

BONNIE MARIE BURSK was president of the Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce in 2004 and 2005, and wasinvolved in the creation of the GRANADA HILLS SOUTH NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL. She is an original board member GHSNC and the COMMERCIAL PROPERTY OWNERS Representative.

BONNIE MARIE BURSK has also been active and is a past president in the OLD GRANADA VILLAGE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT (GRANADA HILLS IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION – ghia).

It has been an honor to serve as Faith Based Representative on the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council since its inception in 2006. During the last two years, I’ve joined forces with Ralph Kroy, the Granada Hills North Neighborhood Council Faith-Based Representative. Twice a year, we hold a luncheon inviting all Congregational Leaders in Granada Hills in order to foster community and to discover and support common goals among different Faiths. This year, on behalf of all Congregations who wish to participate, we wrote a motion requesting waiver of the LA City permit fees for storage units containing emergency preparedness supplies.I am an appropriate person to represent the Granada Hills South Congregations as I believe that living life on any path in spiritual connection with our Creator is honorable. I’ve lived in Granada Hills for over 20 years, was a volunteered track coach at Granada Hills High School for four years, I was a volunteered as a street fair worker with the Chamber for five years as well as parade announcer and various other civic projects.

I am an original member of the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, a former chair of the Planning and Land Use Committee. I fought to stop the Kohl’s big box store at Granada Village. Supported funding various of school programs, movie night at Granada Hills park. I fought the cities sidewalk repair assessment on homeowners; I supported and worked on the improvements at Veterans Park and the cityscape improvements on Chatsworth Street. There is still lots unfinished business to be done. If elected I will continue to serve you.

I love what I do!Currently, I serve as the President of Encino Franklin Fields, a 28-acre youth sports complex in Encino. In addition, I was a member of the Board of Directors for Mid Valley Youth Baseball for over eight years as the Communication Director.
