Stakeholders who live, work, own property or who declare a stake in the GPNC and affirm an ongoing and substantial community interest and who are 18 years or older.
CANDIDATES FILED:
Suzanne Swain Cabriales – Glassell Park is a unique and colorful area that fully represents the cultural and ethnic mix that represents our city at large. Mt Washington is home to one of the best elementary schools in all of Los Angeles. My current job in nursing has highlighted the need to bring healthcare education to the level of the community. There are so many layers to what underlies illness and much of it stems from our community environment: lack of adequate nutrition, inadequate housing, heating/cooling needs, lack of access to basic healthcare need, lack of community safety infrastructure. I would hope to be able to provide educational backbone and structure to goals undertaken by the Neighborhood Council. This would be an honor to provide this type of service to the place that I have called home for the past 30 years.
Michael Divic – I am looking forward to the opportunity to participate on the Neighborhood Council for a second term this year. We are positioned well this year to continue to make significant positive change in our community.
Area 1 Representative
Term: 2 years
1 Elected Stakeholder who resides within Area 1 and who is 18 years or older. Stakeholders who live, work, own property or who declare a stake in the GPNC and affirm an ongoing and substantial community interest and who are 18 years or older.
CANDIDATES FILED:
Marcela_GuerreroMarcela Guerrero – My name is Marcela Guerrero and I have lived in Glassell Park for only a few years, but in those few years this city has found a very special place in my heart. I have seen it transform into something amazing in such a short time, and I would very much like to be a part of seeing even more changes enacted. It would be such a pleasure to serve this community
Adam M West – I have been a resident of the Fletcher Square since 2012. While I am fairly new to the area, I have grown fond of the community and wish to see it prosper and grow. As a member of the entertainment industry, I would advocate for increased film and TV production in the area, and efforts to attract new businesses. I want to see more programs to help clean and beautify our neighborhood, making it a safe and clean place for everyone.
AJ_HALLAJ Hall – I’ve been proud to call Glassell Park my home for over 3 years. Over those 3 years, I’ve watched the neighborhood grow and discovered many of the the riches Glassell Park has to offer: the community garden on Drew St. where I tend a plot, the public pool, the parks, our local cart vendors, the “Glassellland” sign, and so much more.I want to be part of Glassell Park’s continued rise, and help make our neighborhood even better. I truly think we are the #1 neighborhood in L.A., a true gem in this sprawling metropolis; shining out like a diamond in the rough.I know I can make a difference, and if you elect me as Neighborhood Councilman, we can make that difference together!
Lorenzo_Tovar_Reg8_GPNC_2014Lorenzo Tovar – As a middle school teacher, I feel that one major focus of our community should be the continued improvement of our schools. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and have experienced the disparity in the quality of education throughout the city first hand, both in my own upbringing and in the classroom with my own students today. However, I was privileged enough to have an incredibly strong support system that allowed me to overcome the obstacles I faced. We must continue to work toward creating a culture of support and encouragement in our community for our families and students to be able to be succeed in their ambitions, whether that is in business ventures, education, or the general betterment of the neighborhood. I would be honored to serve on Glassell Park’s Neighborhood Council to advocate for the community and implement changes that community members feel are necessary.
