HHWNC has been active now for 10 years.  I served as Area 5 chair from 2003- 2006, and then as board president from 2006 to the present time.  It is very encouraging to see the enthusiasm now building as more community members are participating in our committees and activities AND running for office!

But the most exciting aspect is that our City officials are coming to our meetings regularly not only to speak but to listen!  Our City Council representatives are concerned about all of the issues coming before us.

This is encouraging and gives great promise for the future of the Neighborhood Council system. Our voices are being heard.

Thank you for your support over the years. I am willing to continue my service should I be re-elected as your president.

Orrin Feldman

Hi.  My name is Orrin Feldman.  Please vote to reelect me to serve as HHWNC’s vice president so that we can continue to work together to benefit our community.

Having volunteered to be HHWNC’s first area  9 representative and later elected to be HHWNC’s vice president, I’ve helped our community to be heard and served better by our City’s public officials and administrative agencies.   I’ve “walked the walk” throughout  Hollywood year after year.  I’ve lead  efforts through out HHWNC’s area to get many better services and better results in all kinds of situations. We’ve often succeeded .

I have the experience needed for our much needed Planning and Land Use Committee, which I helped develop.

I hope to continue to serve you as your representative.

I currently serve as Counsel in Legal & Government Affairs for NBCUniversal, which has historically been a supporter of local civic and charitable causes, such as the Fire Station 76 on Cahuenga West and the Hollywood Beautification Team. Through my work in Government Affairs, I frequently work with community stakeholders and understand the importance of civic participation and community outreach. If elected as Secretary, I look forward to collaborating with the Board in addressing the needs and concerns of the Hollywood Hills West community and ensuring that it continues to be a vibrant place to live and work.

I’m an 18-year resident of Outpost Estates.  I have served on the Outpost HOA Board most of those years, currently as President.  I’ve been on the HHWNC Board for six years, two as Area 5 Chair and four as Treasurer.  I would like to continue as Treasurer to keep our funds in order and encourage the Board to fund community improvement projects.  In the years that I have been Treasurer, we have increased our funding of worthwhile projects to the point that this year we have not lost any unallocated funds at the end of the fiscal year. I’ve kept our accounting up to date and submitted all required paperwork to DONE during my current term.  I will do my best to continue to work with the City bureaucracy so that all of our vendors or grant recipients receive prompt payments. I have served on the Elections Committee, Bylaws Revision Committee and several ad hoc issue committees.

Neighborhood Councils are valued members of the City of Los Angeles family due to the efforts of many volunteers who have raised our level of respect. Our main job is to represent our community to local elected representatives, City departments, and state elected representatives. The reverse is also our responsibility, bringing access to government agencies and representatives to the local neighborhoods. Relevant issues range from potholes and water pressure regulators in the hills to helicopter noise and traffic on our City streets.
As a contributor to the Neighborhood Council system since 2004, serving as Vice-President and President of a neighboring NC, I have the ability to assist the Board and community by keeping our process moving as Parliamentarian. I’ve enjoyed filling this role for the last year and look forward to my continued contributions in this way and others to make HHWNC a champion for our stakeholders.

Robert Mott

Hi, my name is Bob Mott and I’m running for the position of Parliamentarian. I’m a resident of Sunset Square – Hollywood Hills West. I’ve been involved with the Neighborhood Council and have previous experience as a Board Member in private industry. I’ve resided in Los Angeles for more than 25 years and I’ve had a significant career in the Film business. I bring a lot of experience to the table and look forward to serving the community in this capacity therefore; I’m asking you to vote for me as Parliamentarian in the Neighborhood Council election. Thank you in advance.

Issue 1: Traffic, Public
Transportation and Parking Committee Chair
Term: 2 years
1 Elected Stakeholder who lives, works, owns property or declares a stake within the HHWNC boundaries and affirms a factual basis for it and who will lead the HHWNC committee to address traffic, public transportation and parking and who is 18 years or older. Stakeholders who live, work, own property or those who declare a stake within the HHWNC boundaries and affirm a factual basis for it and who are 18 years or older.

Yervand Kochar

As a tour operator and a commercial driver, I have direct experience and understanding of how traffic and public transportation affect residents and businesses in Hollywood. I will strive to help:a). balance the way tourist traffic (tour buses and individual tourists) affects residential areas.

b). maximize the efficiency of public parking.

c). regulate and ease traffic caused by events on Hollywood Blvd. and around.

d). safeguard and improve cautionary measures for pedestrians in the area.

Eric Paquette

The Los Angeles metropolitan area leads the nation in urban traffic congestion and ranks number one for total annual hours of delay for all travelers and total annual gallons of wasted fuel for all travelers. I want to help. Even 2 percent to 3 percent fewer cars on the road could reduce traffic by 10 to 15 percent. I would like to continue in my position as traffic chair, so I can work with stakeholders and city officials, to strongly consider recent recommendation by RAND corporation such as:

1. Install curbside parking meters that charge more during peak business hours for parking in congested commercial and retail districts.
2. Expand rapid bus transit with bus-only lanes on arterial streets and express freeway service in the high-occupancy/toll lanes.
3. Offer and aggressively market deeply discounted transit passes to employers, who would purchase passes for all employees, allowing those who commute by transit to ride at reduced cost.
4. Develop an integrated, region-wide network of bicycle pathways.
5. Restrict curb parking on busy arterial streets.
6. Bolster outreach efforts to assist businesses in promoting ridesharing programs, telecommuting and flexible work schedules.

Jim Geoghan

The interests of Hollywood are being parsed out to special interests and developers leaving residents and homeowners in jeopardy. Plans to increase the density of Hollywood will only increase the number of cars clogging our streets. We need elected members to stand up to the nonsense that is being fed to us by LA politicians who are funding their re-election campaigns with donations made by businesses and developers who do not even live in our area. It takes twenty minutes to travel ten blocks at “rush hour” and all the city can tell us is “we need bigger buildings.” Enough is enough.

Issue 2: Youth Development,

I would like to announce that I am running for a board position for the Youth Development, Education and Recreational Resources Committee. Being a business leader and resident in Hollywood, I’ve grown to care for our community and really make a difference. This is the same goal I have for our neighborhood and hope you will endorse my vision.

I love Hollywood. I have watched this neighborhood grow and change and now that I am a business owner, I would like to give back to the city that has given me so much. My goal as part of the Business Development Committee is to continue my predecessor’s work toward a more resident friendly Hollywood. I look forward to working with local business owners and operators as well as those living in the area to make Hollywood into a place where tourists are as likely to see a local family of four having lunch on the boulevard as they are to see a famous celebrity. We’ll work together to create events designed to bring residents and business owners together. In the Hollywood I envision, other neighborhoods use the format we will create here to build a greater sense of community in their own neighborhoods.

Maria Rychlicki

I’m Maria Rychlicki and have lived in our Neighborhood Council area since 1993. I have served the past two years as HHWNC Infrastructure Chair. The Infrastructure Chair needs to have an understanding of the issues and the solutions and my local government skills and experience are an asset do accomplish this. I worked thirty one years for the Cities of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, and now serve as Executive Director of the Westside Cities Council of Governments. In my positions I have worked with numerous departments in the City of Los Angeles, L.A. County, the State of California and various Federal government departments.I have experience and the working knowledge of traffic practices/engineering, seismic safety, utilities, water, telecommunications, and other issues relevant to the Infrastructure position. And I care about the quality of life in our neighborhoods. I would appreciate your vote.

Mary Prange

I am a Southern California native and I first moved to Hollywood in 1969 when I started working at Paramount Pictures.

I know Hollywood is NOT alone in having a crumbling infrastructure but I would love to help bring attention to issues in our area.

While dangerous sidewalks and potholes are obvious hazards that need scrutiny, I would love to be involved in all infrastructure matters. I will make it my business to understand each and every one of the infrastructure issues that challenge the HHWNC area.

I was a representative on the Board of Directors of IATSE local 700, Motion Picture Editors Guild, for over 20 years. In my years of service on that Board of Directors I was an active participant.

I feel I can be an effective and responsible representative on the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council. I have vision and I am not a naysayer.

I am the qualified candidate to monitor and maintain this exciting revitalization. I am already involved in my community. I have been an Area 3 committee member for two years. The residents of Area 7 are fortunate to live in a neighborhood that has the warmth of a suburb in the crossroads of an amazing city. We are unique because of our mixture of single-family and multi-unit residences, along with our busy commercial Sunset Boulevard corridor that serves locals and tourists alike. To maintain the lifestyles that we enjoy, Area 7 must pay special attention to issues like traffic, safety, and responsible development. We also need to properly balance the interests of our residents with the responsible growth of our local merchants. I intend to work for the sake of our stakeholders in strengthening our sense of community.
