Welcome to the Neighborhood Council Liaison Webpage! Thank you for your interest in being a Liaison for your Neighborhood Council.
City of Los Angeles elected officials, departments, and even other Neighborhood Councils are frequently looking for an NC contact person to work with on a particular subject matter. During the year, agencies will ask EmpowerLA for Liaison contact information for the purpose of sending invitations to meetings or events of interest, to receive feedback, or simply to request help in sharing information with NCs and stakeholders. Your willingness to be that contact person will help your Neighborhood Council improve government responsiveness to your community’s needs. Thank you again for doing your part to EmpowerLA!
Current Neighborhood Council Liaisons:
Animal Services Liaisons
The liaison will work with Animal Services on creating their new strategic plan and continue communications with Animal Services for their communities on how to help save the lives of more animals and better serve and protect our neighborhoods.
Public Works Liaisons
Liaisons will serve as the primary point of contact within Neighborhood Councils on the clean Streets Initiative, which was announced by Mayor Eric Garcetti on April 23, 2015. Focused on creating a cleaner and more livable city, the Clean Streets Initiative e provides funding for additional trash bins, a third Clean Streets Strike Team, the development of a cleanliness assessment system, and increased enforcement of illegal
dumping. The Liaison will work with the Board of Public Works, Mayor’s Volunteer Corps and Office of Community Beautification to organize clean ups, increase 311 reporting in their area, and engage local stakeholders on how to maintain street cleanliness. Liaisons will receive regular communication from the Board regarding pending agenda items, and will be invited to a bi-monthly Liaison meeting with Public Works staff.
Grievance Panel Liaisons
Neighborhood Council Film Liaisons will have the opportunity to meet representatives from FilmLA, the non-profit that coordinates location filming throughout the City of LA and beyond. In addition, Location Managers, Production Managers, and Permit Company representatives will be there to join in a robust conversation of the film industry, location filming, and opportunities for partnership.
Also, Neighborhood Council Film Liaisons will be offering best practices from their experience working with the Film Industry, including the resolution of issues and potential conflicts, and sharing their experience in partnering with the industry.
Purposeful Aging Liaisons
Many of the City of LA’s Departments are engaged in a citywide campaign to ensure that our seniors, the fastest growing demographic group in the city, are supported and this includes the Mayor’s Office, the Aging Department, the Office of the City Attorney, Recreation and Parks, Housing, Transportation, City Library, City Planning, and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.
Our great opportunity is to organize as Neighborhood Council Aging Liaisons and to ensure that all of our most vulnerable stakeholders get the support that they deserve and that they need.
