Los Feliz Neighborhood Council recently completed their second successful drive for feminine hygiene products to help students in their area who are experiencing homelessness. Los Feliz reports that this drive was completed at no cost to their Council, so an organized action like this one can be a great, no-budget way to engage members of your community to take action on one of Los Angeles’ most pressing problems.

According to this LAUSD report, there are over 17,000 students in the LA Unified School system who are currently homeless. Neighborhood Councils can be a powerful source of assistance for homeless neighbors in their community.

Los Feliz will be holding another drive like this one at the end of the summer as a Back To School event, and they encourage other Neighborhood Councils to consider partnering with their local schools to hold similar drives in their communities.
