What’s the best way to ensure your Election outreach gets seen by as many stakeholders as possible? Location, location, location! Put your Election posters and flyers where the majority of your stakeholders will see them.

One of the most effective ways to promote your Election is to place your outreach material at locations that are widely patronized by locals regardless of their walk of life, age, or the language they speak. Doing this can reach a broader range of people within your Council boundaries than you might reach by advertising on local radio, newspapers, or social media, and is likely to be more budget-friendly, as well.

Look for places that are the crossroads of daily life in your neighborhood: Grocery stores, gas stations, convenience stores, banks, farmer’s markets and drugstores are all examples of the kinds of places that get a lot of traffic from local residents and workers, as well as those who frequent an area due to their community interests. Make sure to obtain permission from a manager or owner first, before posting at such locations!

TIP: When creating your flyers, it’s good practice to make them in multiple languages, so your message reaches as many stakeholders as possible. Additionally, don’t forget to include contact information, too, such as your Council’s website, email address, and a telephone number.
