From October 26 to December 7, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will be offering free flu shots on a first come, first serve basis. Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone six months of age and older, including healthy adults. There are documented benefits from flu vaccination, including reductions in flu illnesses, related doctors’ visits and missed work or school. Vaccination also prevents flu-related hospitalizations and deaths.

The vaccines will be administered at locations across LA County, including many public library branches. If you have health insurance, your best source for vaccination is your regular clinic or provider office. Flu vaccinations are also available in community settings such as pharmacies and some community clinics. Starting October 21, 2014, DPH will also offer flu vaccinations at no-cost at its public health centers.
