Manuel Aldana Jr.

I was raised in South Central and have lived here for over 30+ years. I know the important issues that matter to all of us. Jobs, public services, honest government, and education. We need a Neighborhood Council (NC) that will outreach and encourage attendance at their meetings so that people’s concerns will be heard. I have advocated for parents & students by serving on school advisory committees and filed over 100+ Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) complaints against LAUSD for violations of federal & state regulations, I have advocated for DWP ratepayers by serving on the DWP Ratepayers Advocacy Committee against unnecessary rate increases, and I have also filed grievances against former South Central NC’s for violations of our “open meeting” law (Brown Act). We need to begin to elect true leaders who don’t just talk, but have a record of results. Thank you for your vote.

I am committed to the working people of this neighborhood.
Estoy dedicado a los trabajadores de esta vecindad.

John Parker

I know that our struggles here in South Central are intertwined with the struggle of all working and poor people for justice, for decent housing, for quality education and, most importantly, for jobs. This is why I’ve spent the majority of my life fighting along side unions when they wanted to fight, receiving an award from the United Food and Commercial Workers; am a member of the Southern California Immigration Coalition, which curtailed the confiscation of cars of the undocumented by LAPD; I’ve also stopped the arrest of many Black youth in my neighborhood due to LAPD racial profiling. We must build on all of our resident’s strengths here. We especially cannot let politicians weaken us by dividing our Black and Brown communities. They know that combined we are a powerful force for change and justice, and that’s what I intend to work for – unity and justice.
