My parents emigrated to the U.S. from Sicily. As a first-generation daughter of a barber and seamstress, I learned early how hard work and determination can make anything possible. Learning English; putting myself through college – first in my family to earn a Master’s; moving solo from Chicago to California; buying my first home in Tujunga; getting married; opening a business here: BELIEVING in dreams, PURSUING happiness & SUCCEEDING. Anything is possible.I look at the Sunland-Tujunga communities, and that’s what I see: POSSIBILITIES and together we can make things happen. As your VP of Community Improvement, I pledge to use my Marketing & Public Relations background to make things happen, to make a difference, to strenthen traditions and build on our foundation, while enhancing neighborhoods and attracting smart family-friendly businesses. I believe we can become the Jewel of The Foothills, because it IS possible and because WE DESERVE IT.

Lydia J. Grant – Parent Representative

Janet L. Linsalato – Union Representative

I have lived in Sunland-Tujunga for the past 25 years. I have raised my 4 children here. I have enjoyed the rural atmosphere in this community and will do all I can to protect the rural environment.I have served 3 terms on the council. I have been a region 3 rep and region 1 rep. I am currently serving as the union rep. There are several unions that represent workers that live and work in this neighborhood and I will represent them. Thank you for the opportunity.

John “Blue” Herget – Veterans Representative

I’d like to run as “Vet-Rep” one more time. I created the position to help vets, but it naturally expanded to homeless vets, others losing houses, and elderly care.I’ve become a small expert on the complex VA as severe illnesses I contacted in Vietnam suddenly came back 40 years later and nearly killed me. I dealt with the VA alone without legal council, and moved my disability rating from 0% to 70% last November.

In this struggle, I also had to deal with sudden forced unemployment stemming from my medic work disabilities, some which plague me to this day.

(I worked as a medic for 40 years.)

These realities, and subsequently almost losing my house, gave me invaluable insights into the struggles of our fading middle class as well as the homeless.

I ultimately succeeded in overcoming everything, and I wish to use these skills to help my neighbors.

Patrick O’Brien – Veterans Outreach

I have been commander of American Legion Post 377 Sunland Tujunga for several years. I want to let Veterans know what entitlements they have from being in the service.

Krystee Clark – Entertainment Industry Representative

I have been a professional in the entertainment industry for over 30 years and a member of SAG-AFTRA.I cherish the diverse culture of our Sunland-Tujunga community and take pride in our indigenous environment and clean air. I will work to promote our unique lifestyle, locally driven business culture and help to save our open spaces!

Our remarkable neighborhood has appeared in numerous television shows and films including Terminator Salvation, Memento, and Sons of Anarchy.

I will act as a liaison between film crews and residents in order to establish communication and maintain mutual understanding and cooperation. I will ensure our community benefits from the exposure.

Please, take the time to come out and vote!

The Neighborhood Council system is young and growing with potential to make a difference.

Let’s work together to create the Utopian paradise our original settlers envisioned. Thank you!

Joe DeCenzo – Poets and Writers Representative

When development and growth pervade a region, it is important to nurture the arts and culture right along side. It fosters a sense of understanding and unity among the diverse elements that build our neighborhoods. Our poets and writers are the legacy of the artists enclave that was formed here a century ago, and I’m optimistic they will impact the appreciation of our heritage and current perception of Sunland-Tujunga in the eyes of all the city if given the voice and forums to do so. My experience as an event producer here in Sunland-Tujunga tells me we are community and that our poets and writers desire to engage the public. My associations with Bolton Hall Museum, the McGroarty Arts Center and the Poetry and Literature Committee, as well, have given me the tools and contacts required to draw us together. Further support means further accomplishments. Thank you.

Richard Stewart – Environmental Representative

The streets of Sunland-Tujunga need help. I would like to represent them with an Adopt a Street programI’ve named the Sunland-Tujunga Belly Buster Club, due to the obvious exercise benefits of picking up litter. My passion is clean streets and parks free of litter and weeds. I have found others with the same interest. I feel with some leadership and volunteers, we can lead the way to a cleaner environment in Sunland-Tujunga and greater Los Angeles.

Albert Timins – Seniors Representative

I am a 52 year resident of Sunland-Tujunga. I have owned businesses and property, brought business to the community and designed and organized the installation of the War Memorial at Sunland Park. Iwant to work to improve the quality of life in Sunland-Tujunga with my experience, history and activism.
