After years of mounting frustration with Voices 90037 lack of fiscal discipline and on-going dysfunction, I decided the best way to make a difference was to get involved in the process. I was asked by my family and neighbors to run for the Chairmanship of Voices 90037 for this fall’s election, and accepted the challenge to represent the constituents of my dear 90037.

I am running for neighborhood council to represent the interest of everyone who lives in and loves our 90037 community. Thirty years ago my parents set their roots in this beautiful neighborhood and I want to ensure that our community maintains its charm during these tough times. I am a community organizer by trade and will bring this experience to the council. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to representing you.

Alpacino Nunez

As a long-time current resident of this COMMUNITY, I cannot bear being on the sidelines. I don’t like witnessing our reputation being tarnished. It is time for the members of this community to speak-up and demand changes.

OUR COMMUNITY is just as great as any other in the City of L.A., if we fight for it. We need our streets to be safe, for our children, and as well as for us. By involving ourselves in the COMMUNITY, we can set an example for everyone in the City of L.A. Nothing is stronger and more beautiful than the bond our COMMUNITY can achieve.

I would make it my full-time duty to represent and reinforce the values of our COMMUNITY. Thank you for you consideration, and it would be my privilege to representing you.

Kenneth Ward

I have been affiliated with the VOICES OF 90037 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL since 2005. I am proud to announce that I have been an important asset to this organization for seven years. I have contributed to the development and positive changes for our community throughout the years.

Throughout my commitment, involvement, and dedication to this organization, I believe in being the representing voice for our community. Furthermore, I have heard the voices of concerned citizens that live within the community. I wish to collaborate with members of the organization and others within the community to bring awareness and change to  the concerns of our community. I would like to continue serving the VOICES OF 90037 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL and serving our community!

Several years ago, I met a group of concerned citizens who live within the boundaries of Voices of 90037. We shared a common goal to organize a certified Neighborhood council for our community. We accomplished that goal, but more work needs to be done. I want to continue serving our community so that we can have the same benefits as every other community. I ask for your support.

Ismael Venegas

As immigrants my parents chose 90037 as the community in which their children would pursue opportunities that for them were only dreams. And, it is 90037 where I continue to hope for a better future not only for myself and family, but also for my neighbors that have never stopped dreaming and striving for a better tomorrow.

I share this statement because I believe in the potential of Voices of 90037 to provide a platform for our community to transform our hopes and dreams into realities. Because of this belief, I ask for your trust to serve as vice-chairperson.

My commitment to our community is to build a stronger Voices of 90037 by increasing its capacity to have a voice in the policy processes that effect our lives and oftentimes prevent us from engaging with those processes to begin with.

My name is Latricia Bowers, and I am writing today to issue my letter of intent to run for Voices of 90037 Neighborhood Council (V9NC) Treasurer for the 2012-2014 term.

With strong interest to represent all stakeholders in the 90037 boundary in conjunction with my qualifications and experience with finance management, I would be the best candidate for the V9NC Treasurer. Some of my experience includes being the current Interim Treasurer for V9NC, bookkeeping, payroll and office management experience, and familiarity with accounting and payroll programs such as QuickBooks and Quicken.

As a treasurer, my main goals will be to:
1. Ensure sound finances, and work actively to ensure good use of any ‘outgoing’ dollars.
2. Maintain transparency and accountability towards the V9NC board members and stakeholders.
3. Expand stakeholders and board members involvement with the finance committee.
4. Listen closely to the needs and suggestions from V9NC stakeholders and board members, and represent them as best as possible as a voting board member.
Thank you,

I would like to continue in the position of “Recording Secretary” of this NC. organization. The committment to the “community/stakeholder” is my goal and as been for the past eleven (11) years; serving in the aforementioned position. In representing the “stakeholder,” giving them a voice in our city government is my first (1st) prioperity!
SECONDLY: that the “stakeholders” would expand their knowledge of our city government and their expectations.
THIRDLY: that in representing my constituents/stakeholders would enchance them; as the “citizens” on the move for fair, open, and transparent process of this NC; which demonstrates being on the move for “righteouness”
FOURTH: having functioned for the past eleven (11) years, as the “Recording Secretary” of several NC. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and my committment of my concerns for the “stakeholders” over the past eleven(11) years; whom I represent!

Sunserae Keaton

After moving to the 90037 neighborhood a year ago, I have come to love the community and would like to start contributing to this under-represented area. As Recording Secretary, I plan to type the meeting minutes electronically as they occur and then email the minutes out to board members within 24 hours of the close of the meeting.
I type 80 words per minute, am proficient with Microsoft Office, and type transcripts of 90 minutes to 2 hour teacher lectures on a daily basis. These skills should ensure accurate, comprehensive and timely records of the meeting minutes.
