As an At-Large Respresentative, I will bring fresh ideas, marketing skills and commitment to the existing Board. The opportunity to work with the current board members sharing knowledge, coordinating events or working together on a committee will be rewarding. One of my goals will be to network with neighborhood venders and request a District 10 discount coupon, keeping the revenue circulating within the neighborhood. My client relations – marketing skills, will assist with effectively interacting with committee members and project coordinators. Positive communcation with the LAPD,Council member Representative, neighborhood particpates or outside principles is an essential tool important to all elected officials. I will listen to concerns, understand situations and work as a team player to satify the needs of all parties involved and strive for successful results. The privilege to serve you is appreciated.

Union only hire them maybe others – over own  leaders our politicians have forgotten our family’s suffering. Pro 40 is wrong.

Steven Meeks

I was grew up as a child through young adulthood in this neighborhood. Though I moved away as a young adult, since circa 1996 I have done small things to stay involved in the neighborhood I grew up in. I’ve seen it change over the many years;some for the better some for the worse. As with most communities several issues affecting our community need addressing. It is not the total responsibility of civic government to do everything for its citizens. To help bring about positive change, residents must get involved. My entire life has been about organizing and volunteering. If people are helped to believe (empowered) they can bring change – this will motivate them to become involved.

Martha Holden

Hello,
I moved to West Adams a year ago. I have been making property improvements and like the neighborhood (West Adams and South Curson)
I am interested in making the neighborhood more beautiful by reaching out to citizens to have pride and to maintain their property, alleyways and sidewalks. I believe that we, as people housed or working in the neighborhood, have a responsibility before we ask for help from the city. If there is a way that I could help by working on a committee or creating a program please let me know. I enjoy children and feel that I have the capacity to motivate people.
I recently painted my alley gate and maintain the trees in the parkway in front of my house.
Thank you,
Martha Holden

I was born in our community, and my family has lived here for 60 years. I have seen our area survive many changes – some good and some undesirable. As a resident, and as a 27-year employee of the City of Los Angeles, I feel for the members of our community and for the city officials. As your Stakeholder Representative, I will bring to the board an open mind, 10 years of mediation experience, 19 years of community volunteering, and a very strong voice. My biggest concerns are the increasing residential parking problems, the surprising number of dying trees that are damaging property and causing injuries, and the cars that speed through residential areas, endangering our children. I am a good communicator, and am skilled at negotiating positive results. It will be my honor to represent and serve you.

I’ve lived in West Adams for a little more than 25 years. My wife and I raised a daughter and a son and have a grandchild living at home. I want to preserve the good qualities in our community and bring positive change that will make all of us proud.. I see a need for improved relationships between police and the people. I believe we can work together to improve safety by being good neighbors and by encouraging dialogue. I want more grocery stores and restaurants and fewer places that sell alcohol or fast food. I want to maintain our trees and repair damaged sidewalks. I plan to monitor trash collection and street-cleaning efforts to enhance beautification. Traffic safety is vital and cannot be ignored. I want to bring in more government grants. My priority is to ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear at city hall.

Maria Norris

My husband and I chose to plunk down our savings into our first home together in this neighborhood because we saw the potential in this area and we were proven right. There’s lots to love here including great welcoming neighbors. But we’re not blind to the faults of the area, either. We plan on living here a very long time into the future and want to be a part of what makes this place an increasingly better one for our families. I’m a wife, a homemaker, an aunt, a sister, a former LAUSD high school teacher, and a real estate leasing agent/assistant. I have many roles, and I hope the voters, my neighbors, will allow me the additional role of Neighborhood Council Member as a Homeowner Representative.
