Arleta voter categories and qualifying documents

In order to vote in Arleta, you’ll need to be 14 years of age or older on Election Day. You’ll also need to bring documentation to the polls that verifies two things:

  1. your identity
  2. your Arleta stakeholder status. A “stakeholder” is anyone who lives, works, owns a business or property, or who has an ongoing and substantial participation within the council boundaries. Voting in this election is only open to Arleta stakeholders.

If your photo ID shows a qualifying address which lies within the council boundaries – for example, if you live in Arleta and your residential address appears on your driver’s license – then that’s all you’ll need! If it doesn’t, then you’ll need to include an additional document to verify your stakeholder status.

In addition, whatever document you provide to establish your affiliation with the Arleta area must show a qualifying address lying within the council boundaries. Pacoima voter categories and qualifying documents

VOTE Saturday April 2nd 10 am – 2 pm at Pacoima City Hall 13520 Van Nuys Blvd Pacoima 91331.

Voting in the Pacoima Neighborhood Council election is open to everyone 16 years of age or older on the Election Day who is a stakeholder of the council. A stakeholder is someone who lives, works, owns property, or has an ongoing and substantial participation with a group, organization or institution within the council boundaries.

All voters must fill out a registration form at the polls, even if they’re already registered to vote in national elections, or have voted in Neighborhood Council elections in the past. Voters in this election are “self affirming.” This means they must state who they are and explain how they’re a stakeholder qualified to vote in this election, but they do not need to provide proof of either their identity or stakeholder status.

In order to explain their stakeholder status, voters will need to provide a “qualifying address” during the registration process, which is an address associated with their stakeholder status that lies within the council boundaries. For many voters, your qualifying address will be where you live, work, or own property. If you do none of those things within the council area, your qualifying address could be the place where you routinely attend school or church, or regularly participate in some other community-based activity. Please note that a PO box is *not* acceptable as a qualifying address.

Have questions? Write elections@empowerla.org, or call (818) 293-VOTE (8683) weekdays between 9 am – 5 pm.

Studio City voter categories and qualifying documents

In order to vote in Studio City, you’ll need to establish two things, either by submitting supporting documentation online or bringing it to the polls: 1) your identity and 2) the relationship(s) you have to a neighborhood that qualifies you to vote there.

Accepted documents vary according to the nature of your local involvement, but whatever you submit should *always* show your name. In addition, whatever document you provide to establish your relationship to the Studio City area must show a qualifying address that lies within the NC boundaries. (Please note that a PO box is *not* considered a valid address.) For some ballot types, a single document may be enough to substantiate both your identity and the address that qualifies you for that ballot.

There are seven different voter categories in Studio City’s elections this year, each defined by a particular type of relationship between a voter and the community. With the exception of Youth voters, who may only vote for the Youth seat, it is possible for voters aged 18+ to qualify for more than one ballot – in fact, they may qualify for up to 5, so long as correct documentation is submitted for each. Click the tabs below to see a list of qualifying documents and other specifications for each voter type.

Register to vote online HERE. Have questions? Write us at elections@empowerla.org

Voting in this category is open to anyone aged 18+ who qualifies as a Studio City Neighborhood Council stakeholder, so this ballot is available to anyone who can demonstrate that they live; work; own property or a business; or have a substantial, ongoing community involvement in the area. Your community involvement may include having a child enrolled in a local school or being a student yourself, or belonging to local groups such as a church; volunteer/service group; or non-profit organization.

Documents to provide:

  1. IDENTITY: Valid photo ID – such as CA driver’s license; CA ID card; or passport. A picture ID with your name from work, school, gym, club or a photo credit card is also acceptable.
  2. QUALIFICATION: proof that you live, work, own property, or have an ongoing and significant participation within the boundaries of the council. If your photo ID already shows a qualifying address within the council area, that’s all you need! You may also use other documents like the following, so long as they show both your name and a local address for the organization, school, church or business in question:
    • Paycheck or stub
    • Personal business card, membership card or participation certificate
    • Church, school or organizational roster showing your name
    • Flyer, agenda, calendar or newsletter with your name
    • Letter on official letterhead from school; church; or organization stating you are a substantial + ongoing participant there (see a sample letter HERE)
    • Receipt for membership dues or contributions
This ballot is open to anyone with an ownership interest in a Studio City residential property who also lives at that address. People who live in a multi-unit residential building that they own also qualify. Must be 18+ on Election Day.

  • Current mortgage statement

Sun Valley Area voter categories and qualifying documents

VOTE Saturday April 2nd 10am – 2pm at JH Francis Polytechnic High School 12431 Roscoe Blvd Sun Valley 91352

Voting in the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council election is open to everyone 18 years of age or older on the Election Day who is a stakeholder of the council. A stakeholder is someone who lives, works, owns property, or has an ongoing and substantial participation with a group, organization or institution within the council boundaries. Different types of stakeholders have different ballots in this election.

Before you vote, you must register – even if you’re already registered to vote in national elections, or have voted in Neighborhood Council elections in the past. Voters in this election are “self affirming.” This means they must state who they are and explain how they’re a stakeholder qualified to vote in this election, but they don’t need to provide proof of either their identity or qualifications.

During the registration process, voters must give a “qualifying address,” which is an address associated with their stakeholder status that lies within the council boundaries. For many voters, your qualifying address is where you live, work, or own property. If you do none of those things within the council area, your qualifying address could be the place where you routinely attend school or church, or regularly participate in some other community-based activity. Please note that a PO box is *not* acceptable as a qualifying address.

This election season, Sun Valley Neighborhood Council has 2 different ballots. The ballot you receive depends on the nature of your stakeholder status:

  1. General Ballot: for stakeholders aged 18+ who live, work, or own property within the council boundaries. Allows you to vote for Residential, Business/Property Owner, At-Large, and Community Interest Stakeholder Director candidates.
  2. Community Interest Ballot: for stakeholders aged 18+ who have an ongoing and substantial involvement within the council boundaries other than living, working, or owning property there.  For example, you or your child may attend a local school, or you may be a member of a church; service/volunteer organization; or non-profit there. Allows you to vote for the Community Interest Stakeholder Director candidates.

Sylmar voter categories and qualifying documents

The Sylmar Neighborhood Council election is open to everyone 14 years of age or older on the Election Day who is a Sylmar stakeholder – that is, someone who lives, works, owns property, or has an ongoing and substantial participation with a group, organization or institution within the council boundaries.

Sylmar Neighborhood Council voters are “self affirming.” Self affirmation voters in this election must provide a photo ID to register to vote, but are not required to also provide proof of their stakeholder status. However, Sylmar voters should still be prepared to state a “qualifying address” associated with their stakeholder status that lies within the council boundaries. (Please note that a PO box is *not* considered a qualifying address.)

Valley Village voter categories and qualifying documents

VOTE Thursday April 7th from 4-8 PM at:

Faith Presbyterian Church (Fellowship Hall)

5000 Colfax Avenue
Valley Village, 91601

In order to vote in the Valley Village Neighborhood Council elections, you must be 18 years of age or older on Election Day. You’ll also need to provide documentation that verifies two things:

  1. your identity
  2. your Valley Village stakeholder status. A “stakeholder” is anyone who lives, works, owns a business or property, or who has an ongoing and substantial participation within the council boundaries. Voting in this election is to open to all stakeholders over 18.

Accepted documents vary according to the nature of your local involvement, but whatever you submit should always show your name. If your photo ID shows a qualifying address which lies within the council boundaries – for example, if you live in the area and your residential address appears on your driver’s license – then that’s all you’ll need! If it doesn’t, you’ll need to include an additional document showing a qualifying address to verify your stakeholder status.

For many voters, your qualifying address will be where you live, work, or own property. If you do none of those things within the council area, your qualifying address could be the place where you routinely attend school or church, or regularly participate in some other community-based activity. (Please note that a PO box is *not* considered a valid address.) Not sure if your address qualifies? Look it up HERE.
