Margarita Amador

My name is Margarita Amador, I have been a resident in Boyle Heights for over 40 years.  I grew up in Pico Gardens and worked for the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles for 14 years, where I provided social services programs residing in Public Housing.  I have been the Secretary for the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council for the past 4 years and have been very devoted.  I am extremely passionate about my neighborhood and would like to continue to be an advocate for the residents.

Manuel Aldana Jr.

City Hall is plagued by corruption, mismanagement, and disregard for the public trust. I am committed in making a difference and improving the quality of life here in Boyle Heights. I know the issues that are important to us. Jobs, public services, honest government, and education. We need a Neighborhood Council (NC) that will encourage the community to attend meetings so that their concern’s can be heard. I have advocated for parents and improving student academic performance by serving on school advisory committees and filed over 100+ Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) complaints against LAUSD for violations of federal & state regulations, I have advocated for ratepayers by serving as a member of the DWP Ratepayer’s Advocacy Committee against unnecessary rate increases, and I have also filed grievances against the former Boyle Heights NC for violations of state & city laws. Thank you for your vote. -Manuel “Manny” Aldana Jr.

Philip Del Pozo

Phil del Pozo a resident of Boyle Heights for over 65 years. I am very concerned with the environment issues and those affecting quality of life. I attend several meetings every month to see how I can better improve my neighborhood.  I believe the area is getting better, but we must all work together to make it a better place to raise our children.

I graduated from Hollenbeck Junior High School and attended Roosevelt HS. I will work with the community and the neighborhood council to improve the quality of life in Boyle Heights. I will work in the areas of improving and fighting for more parks, and recreation, improving the police, fire, and library services, improving traffic, street repairs, promoting local community businesses and community pride, stopping illegal dumping and crime via community education and involvement. I will also be an advocate for more funding for services and programs for Boyle Heights. I will support programs and businesses that bring quality and good paying jobs to Boyle Heights. I will also support improving the quality of housing for home owners and renters.

Edward Padilla

As Boyle Heights continues to change rapidly, we need to unite our voices and strengthen our community to be able to address changes in a positive way. In this historically diverse neighborhood, it is expected that there will be a spectrum of backgrounds and beliefs concerning how we should progress and grow. Being part of the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council means that we will listen well to each other and work together to make Boyle Heights a better place to live, work, and visit. I want to continue to serve on the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council because I strongly believe in the future of this culturally rich community. I am a proud resident of this wonderful neighborhood, and I am a volunteer teacher of dramatic arts at Casa 0101 Theater where I am also President of the Board.

Danny Bozarth

I have served on the board of the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council as the Area 2 representative since October 2011. During that time I have attended every meeting, and I have voted on every issue. We need to take an interest in our community and improve our neighborhood by educating our residents about the services available to them. We must take pride in our community and make Boyle Heights a safe and healthy place for future generations to live, work, and prosper.

Joel Ulloa

I served on the Neighborhood Council for Boyle Heights for the past two years. In that capacity I served on the Bylaws Committee and contributed to the development of the current standing bylaws. I also served as part of the team that worked closely with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment to develop a stronger and more cohesive Neighborhood Council in Boyle Heights. I grew up in Boyle Heights and can attest to and feel lucky to have been a part of its great opportunities, culture, and community.

Erika Trevis

I have strong interests in historic and cultural preservation, infrastructure redevelopment, and sustainable planning. As a resident of Boyle Heights for the past year and four months, I have grown very attached to this wonderful community.
I love that residents can walk to stores from their homes and that public transit is easily accessible. I also love that the city has public parks and an apparent care for community heritage that I consistently witness at Mariachi Plaza.

My vision is for Boyle Heights to become a model for well-maintained infrastructure and sustainable living. I want to see all of the sidewalks in Boyle Heights repaired, trash cleaned up, and more greenery added wherever a neighborhood is lacking. I want to see residents continue to benefit from public transit and more. I believe that my involvement will help to achieve this vision.

Joe Diaz
